How Do You Replace a Legend? - The Transfers, Rumors & Lies Thread

Didn’t the club announce over the summer about a player extending their contract, only the extension was signed the year before? So it might have been signed but not announced.

(I remember being baffled at the time as to why they were announcing old news).

 

I checked, no official communicado from the club this summer regarding Vinny. There were a few news reports that he had agreed, but nothing signed. More than likely he’s going to extend, but there is a small % chance that he doesn’t? My original post was on the previous page, as I thought it was official but apparently not which is odd to me.

 

I think he’s a hard working professional. I think he’s looking at the player empowerment going on in the NBA and Mbappe and Neymar and thinking “I’m the brand, I’m bigger than the club, I’m gonna do what is solely in my interest” if he’s surrounded with people with that mentality, chances are he’s going to start to think that way as well.

I have qualms about his onfield mentality but Vini has never been anything but a consummate professional off the field and on the training ground.

 

That or Alaba is trying to really be sure he's never asked to play LB

 

I don't understand why contract renewals in this sport can't just be transparent but whatever.

I'm not worried about Vini extending, but crazier things have happened.

 

I'm not convinced Davies is coming here, but if it's about the money, Davies can easily get his asking price + starter status in the EPL. He's made comments about being bored in Germany too, I think he is as good as gone.
