Ok predict the second rounds and the hex: Group A: 1. USA 2. Guatemala 3. Cuba 4. Trinidad and Tobago Group B: 1. Mexico 2. Canada 3. Honduras 4. Jamaica *all four of these teams should be in the hex. Group C: 1. Costa Rica 2. El Salvador 3. Haiti 4. Suriname HEX 1. USA 2. Mexico 3. Canada 4. Costa Rica [Loses to South American team] 5. Guatemala 6. El Salvador Note: i don't want to jinx anything, but we really got gifted with the seeding of this qualifying. Honduras, Jamaica, and Canada could all make a run for an actual world cup spot so we know we won't have to worry about two of those teams.
I say Team Mexico goes home, if Team cCuba has any say. I wouldn't mind Team Canada moving into World Cup form but everytime team messes up chance. I say. Teams: USA, Cuba, Honduras, Jamaica, Coasta Rica and El Salvador. I say. Team Coasta Rica has another shocker. Out of group play at World Cup but struggles in the Hexagonal. Team Cuba and Jamaica could find right form since both teams almost put out Teams USA and Mexico. One if not both should have some high failures. Other than that. Team Guatemala would have to have Seniora Ruiz and he never does anything in my views for National Team. Now that would blossom and strengthen our confederation much like Africa...
If Canada beats Jamaica and Honduras can steal one from Mexico in a month, Mexico might be in a fight for their lives, otherwise, I expect the Hex to be: 1. USA 2. Mexico 3. Guatemala 4. Haiti 5. Canada 6. Costa Rica
It looks pretty predictable is you ask me with the exception being Mexico's group. Mexico should go through but Honduras has been the most improved team for this WC cycle in Concacaf and Canada has the talent to go through too. If you're one of those USMNT fans that think our NT is gonna have a hard time qualifying from our group by your logic Mexico shouldn't go through, no? But for the first time in the past 20 years Mexico has a good chance of not making the WC, how cool would that be?? I would rub it in their face on a daily basis!! Group C is the weakest. A declining Costa Rica should make it through along with El Salvador but Suriname is a wild card. If you look at the Dutch team and see a dark skinned player he or his parents most likely came from Suriname so we to see how they do. Either way whoever comes out group c won't be going to South Africa. For the USMNT it should be 3 up 3 down. T&T has not improved and has not replaced their veterans, Guatemala is tough but they still only have one decent player and 10 USL type players, Cuba is a combination of both teams but still can't compete with us, why some people think we're gonna have it tough is beyond on me. Even with BB in charge it should still be easy. I'm not expecting 5-0 or 6-0 wins but we're more than capable of beating T&T and Cuba away and winning all our home games. Group A USMNT Guatemala T&T Cuba Group B Honduras Canada Mexico Jamaica Group C Costa Rica El Salvador Suriname Haiti
guys, i love the optimism and i hate mexico, but remember, they are mexico. there is no way they are failing to qualify to this world cup.
Final Round: USA Guatemala Mexico Honduras Costa Rica El Salvador Teams going to WC '10: USA, Mexico, Honduras Costa Rica loses to CONMEBOL 5th place.
Final Round: USA Guatemala Mexico Honduras Costa Rica Haiti Teams going to World Cup 2010: USA, Honduras, Guatemala Mexico loses to CONMEBOL 5th place.
Hex Teams: USA Guatemala Mexico Canada Costa Rica El Salvador Top 3 USA, Mexico, Canada Playoff w/ CONMEBOL #5: El Salvador
group a usa guatemala cuba trinidad groupb honduras mexico canada jamaica group c el salvador suriname costa rica haiti hex usa honduras guatemala mexico suriname elsalvador usa, honduras make it and guatemala finally make it mexico loss in playoff to venezuala
This is without a doubt the toughest draw we could get. That's five very difficult away trips right there.
I think it'll be: Group A 1. United States 2. Guatemala 3. Cuba 4. Trinidad and Tobago Group B 1. Mexico 2. Jamaica 3. Honduras 4. Canada Group C 1.Costa Rica 2. Haiti 3. Suriname (why are they CONCACAF again?) 4. El Salvador Hex USA Mexico Jamaica Costa Rica Guatemala Haiti Wow aren't you cool! Dont reply if you're going to be an assbag.
Canada i would say are the 3rd best team in CONCACAF, and i think they have the best chance to advance out of group play in the world cup (not including USA and Mexico). I have to feel for Canada because even though i say they'll make it through...it's going to be a hard run for them due to the fact they're going to struggle in their away games. Regardless, If i could predict the top six teams in CONCACAF it'd be: 1. USA 2. Mexico 3. Canada 4. Honduras 5. Costa Rica 6. Guatemala *Jamaica would be in a close race with Guatemala for the sixth spot. And if i was in charge of CONCACAF and could have broke down the groups this is how i would have had it: Group A USA (seeded) Canada Jamaica Suriname Group B Mexico (seeded) Guatemala El Salvador Cuba Group C Costa Rica (seeded) Trinidad and Tobago (seeded) Honduras Haiti *Teams that made it to the last world cup should already be seeded in the second stage. 3rd + 4th place team seeded together (hopefully, i'm right that USA and Mexico were 1st and 2nd...i can't remember)
The final hex will be: USA Guatemala Mexico Honduras Costa Rica Haiti The top 3 will be Mexico, USA, and Honduras. 4th place will be Costa Rica. Predicting Mexico to not qualify out of these qualifiers is like predicting Argentina won't qualify from South America. Bet your house that they'll make it. Why? They don't lose at home. How many world cup qualifiers have they lost at home in the last 4 cycles? One? Two? (Oh, and they're obviously either the 1st or 2nd best team in the region. Without question.)
This isn't the same Mexico. Central American teams, and certainly not the U.S., don't fear Mexico anymore. If Mexico thinks it's gonna be another cakewalk they're gonna be hit with quite a surprise.
It won't be a cakewalk, but they're still the 1st or 2nd best team in the region. In the past calender year they've beaten Brazil, Paraguay, Ecuador, Uruguay, Ghana, amongst some other good results. So while the gap between Mexico and CONCACAF isn't as great as it once was, they're still one of the top teams. Predicting Guatemala to finish ahead of them in the hex is slightly crazy, but you're certainly allowed to have that opinion. Guate did beat Mexico earlier this year in a friendly in LA, so there's at least some evidence that Guate can beat them in one game. Over a stretch of games such as the hex, Mexico should come out on top though.
Look, I hate MEX as much as any self-respecting USMNT fan, but it would be disastrous if MEX failed to qualify for the WCF. 1. WCF berths are allocated to regions according to how that region's teams do against other region's teams in WCFs ... over the last three, IIRC. MEX has almost always gotten out of the group stage, meaning at least one, maybe two, groups stage wins per WCF. If CONCACAF sends CAN, HON, or TRI instead of MEX, CONCACAF's record goes down against the other regions and possibly loses their half-berth or maybe even a full berth. 2. The WCF is better with MEX in it. While this comparison breaks down ... imagine a WCF without BRA or GER or ITA. It just wouldn't be the same. MEX isn't a power like those other teams, but it's a regional power and CONCACAF wouldn't be sending its best if it didn't send MEX. 3. If USA soccer wants to gain respect worldwide (overrated desire, IMHO ... respect will come with results, screw the rest of it), CONCACAF has to gain respect as a region. MEX's hypothetical failure to qualify doesn't give the impression that CAN, HON, TRI, and JAM are improving ... especially if it's followed up by a 0-0-3-1-12-0 record in the WC group stage. Rather, it would be viewed as a decrease in North American quality, leading to fewer WCF berths. Just my $0.02.
Group A 1) USA 2) T&T 3) Guatemala 4) Cuba Guatemala has never advanced out of a group that has included the US...somehow that, combined with the presence of Jack Warner's boys in this group, will conspire in some Bizarro fashion to send the Chapines home early again. Group B 1) Mexico 2) Honduras 3) Canada 4) Jamaica I know this is the GoD, but no way El Tri surrenders points at home, and I think they get at least 2 draws on the road. Honduras is slightly better than Canada or Jamaica, but realistically, you could put these three teams in any order and have a good shot of being right. Group C 1) Haiti 2) El Salvador 3) Costa Rica 4) Suriname This is where the guard changes. I haven't been all that impressed with Costa Rica in the last few years - this group is wide open. The two teams that don't advance out of Group B would win this group. Hex 1) USA 2) Mexico 3) Honduras 4) Haiti 5) T&T 6) El Salvador Haiti gets smoked in the away leg against CONMEBOL #5, and gets a scoreless draw at home.
