For years many of us have sacrificed and worked in our own way to build the game up as a sport. The Goal was a moment of vindication. I am sure I am not alone in wanting to thank this team for the joy they have brought to all of us. While riding home the other day I pondered over how I might express my sincere appreciation to The Team. Going to SA is not a possibility. I think my gesture should be something simple and collective so many others who feel the same way can join in. I am very open to ideas. I just want to brainstorm some kind of act myself and others can do to say thanks. The only thing I could come up with: Ask the US Bid Committee to organize an effort like carrying the Olympic torch, except instead of watching the torch just go by, all of us can 'give and go' to the designated runner. Instead of a flame-lighting, eventually the ball should end up in front of a goal, where someone from Team USA can score. It would be like a very, very long build up to a goal in which everyone gets an 'assist'. The event could be recorded and presented to The Team like a thank-you card. Naturally this won't happen before the WC is over, but I don't care. I just want to do something.
They let us down. We dont need to thank them. They need to thank us for being with them for all the crap they do.
See I don't know how to react. Yes I want to thank them, but I feel they went out with a whimper than a bang; which makes me feel depressed knowing that they could have played harder the entire match.
I'm a little more optimistic than that, we'll see. I'm sure there will be alot of Brazilians wearing Brazil jerseys, but hopefully we won't see many Americans in that category, especially after everything that happened in the last couple of weeks.
Do your best to get out to Giants Stadium for Brazil in August. We owe them a great crowd. I think the "homecoming" game for the 2002 team was a shitty ass friendly against El Salvador in the rain at RFK before maybe 10k people.
Bob Bradley let us down with his starting lineup. Only way they can repay the state of AZ is by having the Poland friendly at The University of Phoenix Stadium.
Big USA crowd at Giants Stadium or whatever it will be called on August 10th. Bring the noise and bring the ruckus ******** world peace we bring the justice, USA ain't nothin to ******** with...unless you're a small African nation that starts with G and ends with A
You could always send a tweet to everyone on the team. Most, if not all, of them have accounts. I think the video montage of all the reactions to Landon's goal was good enough. He saw it and appreciated it. Unfortunately it wasn't enough to inspire the team to another victory.
I thought is was the 2002 MLS All Star Game. With 31,000 people in attendance at RFK that day, it wasn't that bad. Except for the weather. As for thanking them now, simple. Every USA fan in the northeast shows up. Still plenty of time to get the day or half day off work. Plenty of time to figure out ones schedule between now and then.
