At the risk of alienating myself as a centrist, was anyone else at the Pearl Jam show last July in which Eddie rambled mostly coherently about Fugazi, Minor Threat, and Ian MacKaye?

    No?

    Maybe?

Oh well, thanks for igniting the memory all the same. ;)

Eddie Vedder is a ********ing poser.

;) I know lots of people love him and that band. I like the band, can't stand him.

I saw a show down in Austin when the Red Hot Chili Peppers were touring in support of Blood Sugar Sex Magik that featured, in order:

    Pearl Jam
    Smashing Pumpkins
    Red Hot Chili Peppers

I wasn't impressed by Pearl Jam, which taints my view of them to this day, loved the Smashing Pumpkins, and was so wrecked by the time the Chili Peppers came out that I have about 5% recall of their set. I remember enjoying Magic Johnson when they played it.

A great DVD and must-own for any fan of the band. The other show is at Buff Hall in New Jersey...

No, he's not a poser. I just don't like his style.

    EDIT: Whoa, time travel!

LOL, well at least I'm getting to know what people think around here.

But for the sake of argument, is he a poser, or is he something else entirely that is not too proud to acknowledge what came before?

(Missed your edit, but no change really. I love the music, think the band is good, and Vedder is humorous sometimes. No fanboy though. Just happen to think they are one of the more credible big name rock acts around. Anyway, back to DCU somehow...)

Void rules. The Faith ruled too. And Scream were just badass.

Then go reorder it. $18, free shipping.

You also need to get the Minor Threat First Demo Tape that the Dischord folks found and put out last year. It's nothing you haven't heard already, but it's still awesome to hear those songs the way they first played them.

Gonna burn Scream and Minor Threat to my new iPod as soon as I get home from work.

Just got it Saturday, and I've already burned about 15gb of music.

No worries, we've all got our tastes. I used to hate him really, but not as much anymore obviously.

I will say that I might have to listen to some of the other music in this thread, just to see what all the fuss is about.

I have a friend who is friends with her. (What's with me knowing all of these peoples daughters through people?)

Needless to say, per my friend, she's a little sick of her dad's fame, because according to her that's the only reason anyone is friends with her.

Either way, that's pretty cool that you got to talk with him.

she was kind of mean. i never really talked with her alot but it was a small school so everyone knew everyone. yeah she was sick of her dads fame, and im sure some people were only friends with her because of it, but i think its kind of stupid, to do that. musicians arent anyone special and people dont gain cool points for knowing one, you know?

Probably a bit too early to take him to The Talking Head! (not too small child friendly) My friend Roman owns the place and it is a decent joint used to be The Ottobar but now the Ottobar occupies a space formerly known as CLub Midnite (what a sh!t name) anyhow.

Roman played in a band called Roads to Space Travel which did a split on (god the girl from Jawbox's label I forget her name now-Kim?), anyhow he was in a band called Slow Jets that I ended up replacing him in after he left to start the Oranges Band. I left Land Speed Record which included Nate Bell the 3rd bassist for Lungfish along with a guy named Charley who owns a studio ion Baltimore with John Christ formerly of said Lungfish who hooked us up with a guy named Carleton who ran Resin Records who also used to set up a thing called the Ft. Reno Benefit where I first met, said musician who is a member of the Screaming Eagles (who in turn brought Ian to a match)......phew. What a small friggin world.

    Oh and Pearl Jam can......
