Yes. We are doing it by car on 13 June. We are in Jburg to watch the england game V Usa (Rburg) and then driving early morning down to durban. Leave about 8am and expect to be there for about 3-4pm. We are watching Germany V Australia that evening at 20.30 so should have enough time unless something disastrous happens

Pity we have to rush really cos I wanted to stop at the Boer War sites like The Battle of Rorke's Drift site on the way :(

BTW: Which company you use in order to rent the car?
I see that automatic cars prices are very high...

    Thanks.

Yes, shop around cos some are much more expensive than others for the very same deal.

Also check you have complete full damage waiver and unlimited mileage.

We went with great deal from Holiday Autos. I think they are an intermediary basically, so you end up with another company's car, Hertz or something (i think).

Price was excellent and half the price that companies like SouthAfriCAR were charging!!

Same here. We used Holiday autos too. prices appeared to be much lower than direct with company.

Is it safe to do this drive at night and how much faster is driving than taking a bus? We are going to USA/Slovenia on June 18 (Johannesburg), Holland/Japan on June 19 in Durban and then Ivory Coast/Brazil June 20, back in Johannesburg. Plan is to go to Durban right after USA game and then go back up June 20 in the morning.

5am........u serious!? After the England USa game !!!!?????

8 hours to get to Durban is reasonable leaving 4.5 hours to get to accommodation and then the stadium. I can't imagine there'll be 3 hour delays into the stadium unless it's the worst organised event since Roman times
