A couple of years ago he was a challenging for a place on the US National Team, now nobody wants him in the reentry draft. Did this guy somehow piss off every General Manager in MLS?
He wasn't just challenging for a place on the National Team, he was on it. In 2008 he started 11 games including seven out of eight WCQs (he didn't start the last one and I'm wondering if that was due to suspension). In 2009 he started the first two Hexagonal games and five Gold Cup games. January 25, 2012 was his last National Team game.
Remember that he's now free to talk to any club in the league and is as close to a free agent as the current CBA allows. Just because he wasn't picked up in either RED stage doesn't mean he's not talking to anyone.
He's a good player but he seems like he doesn't really care all that much and doesn't have the drive as other players.
Lol! This. …And (seriously) the nagging injury I'm sure isn't helping much. Who knows, he had a falling out at Dallas before he left, maybe he's a head case, or a locker room cancer or something.
I guess people are hesitant to pick him up after his hip surgery. He was on a high salary so he is gonna have to take a bug pay cut to be on an MLS roster.
Using players who had falling outs with the old Dallas coach Hyndman is lunacy. He basically clashed with every player including Dax McCarthy, Brek Shea. Even longtime associate Daniel Hernandez who played for him at SMU and FC Dallas where he was team captain. He was then an player coach and then just assistant but had a "falling out" that no one knows the particulars and hasn't been seen here since. I Liked Pearce here when he played right back and had I believe over 10 assists that year. I am also surprised he hasn't done more. I do believe his personality grinds on coaches even back to his Germany days when he claimed he was better than whoever was playing left back at the time for the US before he had played for them.
