Hey guys, I am new to the boards, just want to ask you a few questions. How do I get Setanta TV? Is it available in the USA? NY? It would be great to find out guys.
I don't think you have to open a pub to get Setanta TV. All you have to do is to pay the pub rate. In other words, if you are a multi-millionaire, you can get Setanta TV at your home. I mean, if Bill Gates wants to watch Ireland x Brazil and Sweden x England at the comfort of his home, you mean Setanta is going to refuse to sell it to him because he is not a pub?
about $15.00 I believe.. It is pricey.. I was charged that rate at Nevada Smiths (bar in NYC) to watch 3 friendlies.. Setanta actually had employees taking the $$ at the door to make sure the bartenders dont skim the cover charge..
I think he meant what the pub has to pay to show the games, not what the pub's customers have to pay to see them.
Note also that SOME Setanta broadcasts can be viewed in your home on PPV. Namely most England matches and Euro 2004. It is definitely expensive, as Oliver said, unless the event is on PPV. The cover charge ($15-25) isn't terrible if you have some disposable income.
The cover charge isn't too terrible, but it's very unusal for a fan watching a game in the pub without ordering any food and drink. And that tab can easily run to $20-$30. It means the food/drink you order is usually more than the cover charge you pay... That's why showing games is good business for the pubs, even though they don't get a penny of the cover charge. Imagine a 2-hour timeslot with 150 Brits watching the 2000 Euro quals between England and Scotland. How much can the pub loot? I would say at least $5000...
Sentanta's running a similar deal to the one they ran in 2000 for individuals -- $19.95 per match or $179 for all televised matches LIVE on DirecTV, TVN, and iNDemand PPV.
