I think he has been great all year but the last two games i thought he has played extremely well. He covers so much ground which takes the pressure off Morales throughout the game. Without him I don't think Morales would be nearly as effective. Beckerman can run all day and is truly a box to box midfielder. His stats are down this year but he is definatley the unsung hero of the team this year and playoffs.
He is the key to Javi being able to get forward yes But nobody can honeslty say that Javi is not the hero of this team not only this year, but especially this post season. This is just further proving that a team is more effective then a couple individuals (cough LA)
It's nice to see people realize you can be a solid (and extremely critical) producer for the team without measuring in goals scored. I love Javi too but A LOT of his offensive prowess is because he can slack on D quite a bit. If you watch games he tires on D quickly and it's the hard/selfless work done by the workhorses (Beckerman, Johnson, Kovalenko, etc) on D that lets him save his energy for the offensive bursts.
As a relatively neutral MLS observer (I say relatively as I live in Houston and therefore watch Dynamo), I've been pretty impressed with what I've seen of Beckerman. Ricardo Clark gets a lot of plaudits around here for his industry and ability to break up opposition attacks, but I think his passing his atrocious and lets him down badly. Beckerman strikes me as being the opposite. He is far better on the ball than Clark is, but he tends to lose a lot of the 50/50 balls in midfield that you want your defensive midfielder to win. If he can improve in this area, he'll be a top player.
He had a problem with Michael Kennedy? I thought the fans were just so loud that Kyle had to yell to be heard.
