Our deepest apologies for Grafer's offence. Maybe next year the league will gift us a starting calibre backup for half the price too. If you haven't noticed, people here are already busy ripping on our team and coach. You want the forum one down from this one, where people might actually give a crap about your gloating.

Someone should also teach him how to grow eight arms to make up for the poor defense that he had in front of him. Petke and Jolley were especially putrid tonight.

If you came here to gloat, congrats. But I will remind you that you haven't won shite yet. So shut it until you've really got something to say.

3-0 win and a playoff berth sounds like a win to me, how about you?and by the way, have fun watching the fire beat the crew tomorrow =)........and grafer is horrible, i dont care if you had the best 4 defenders int eh world, every single ball was saveable. he did good to guess the pk, but didnt get all the way there. there other two he hit the ball, but didnt hit enough of it, and did you see his goalkick that was about 4 feet off of the ground?

During warm-ups, Grafer was wearing shorts. That was disconcerting.

Paul Grafer was the least of our worries tonight.

He almost saved the penalty afrer Petke flattened Twellman. Petke wasn't even close to the ball on that tackle (I can't remember who was burned the second right before the foul).

On the second goal Petke was burned again. Grafer did all he could in stopping the shot and Jolley was supposed to beat Harris to the ball and clear it. This goal was also much more of Petke's and Jolley's fault than Grafer's.

Of course, the third goal was Grafer's fault. That was a stopable shot. Still, Harris shouldn't have had the clear look at goal to begin, as the defence collapsed again.

Thurd you thought the rev played well. It was more like the Metrostars played bad.

Rev-olting are not going no way in the playoffs think about that.

Kudos to you for making the playoffs, but you do realize that you have done worse in the PO's than Metro have historically, right?

Ok, now you're faulting Grafer for all the goals? You have proven that you know shite about football. If you knew anything at all about the game, you'd realize that the goals were down to the piss poor defense in front of the GK. Do you really think that Howard would do any better? What, maybe it would have been 2-0 instead of 3-0?

Leave the trolling to your more skilled compatriots, asshole.

Are there ANY sports fans in Boston that can talk about ANY sport without talking out of their butt?

to blame grafer for this loss is like blaming santa claus for not getting that train set you wanted when you were 8.

There is NO WAY Metro would have surrendered those second and third goals with Tim in net. It could have been excessive rust, or lack of skill, or nerves (understandably), but Grafer was nowhere near professional quality last night. OZ should have replaced him with Cassar after the third goal.

I think Grafer did a pretty decent job considering the position he was put in. who in their right mind expects a keeper to save a penalty? the second goal he made a great save on twellman's shot, but the defense didn't come back and wolde got to the ball... third goal was hard to see from where i was sitting, so i can't really comment on it...

grafer was definitely nervous before the game. i got a chance to talk with the metros' bus driver, and he told me that the gk had been at the stadium since the morning, lifting weights and then warming up from about 1:00 on...

it was defensive lapses that doomed the metros, not grafer.

If howard was there do you think he saves the PK. he might have saved one of those goals but not all three. so we would have lost 1to 0 of 2 to 0. we didn't score a goal. we couldn't even pass the ball to eachother. does it matter who we had in goal when our best defender gives away a PK in the 3 min of the game. does howard save that, probably not.

    thurd, you're a moron.

Defensive (or lack thereof) is what lost the game for Metro. Howard has become the stellar goalie he is because he's used to playing without any defense. Grafer hasn't played in two years, which is why he looked shaky. He still played well considering.

Howard might have stopped the 3rd goal because he's used to playing alone in the back, but I seriously doubt even Howard could have done anything about the first two.

It was a poor effort in terms of overall team defense, and while anyone can try and single out players like Petke and Grafer, they just didn't play with the consistency and intensity necessary to be effective.

They looked much like the Revolution defense looked earlier in the season...

Well in my view it was the obvious combination of lack of defense and offensive effort that resulted in the loss.
