Re: Houston Forum Tagline Mod's Note -- BS has many other forums that are more appropriate for people to go express their animosity about decisions made by AEG. This forum is not the appropriate place. Take it elsewhere. The purpose of this thread is very clearly outlined below.
Re: Houston Forum Tagline I vote we stay away from anything that makes fun of San Jose's plight. I'm sure everyone here knows what it's like to lose a sports team. This is our team now and I think we need something unique that represents our team and our city well. My .02 cents.
Re: Houston Forum Tagline I agree with that. San Jose has already had a body blow. Don't kick someone when they are down.
Re: Houston Forum Tagline I'm all for a title that pokes a little fun at another team but considering that SJ isn't a rival in any form or fashion my vote is we stay away. I'd be all for a cheap shot at FC Dallas though.
Re: Houston Forum "Tagline" I busted my lol box reading that. You know what fellows? I think you should host a poll for what the Tagline should be. Make it last one month, advertise the poll all over BigSoccer, and the winner becomes the official forum tagline. EDIT: There is a poll. I'd like to see who the winner is.
Re: Houston Forum Tagline Well, y'all are better people than I. Personally, I'm about fed up with a few Quakes posters. It's not just the tools that tralloped over to this thread. Hell, if you want to get a sense of what some of their mood is towards Houston and Houstonians, scroll through San Jose's board. Anger is one thing but some of them are taking it a bit far. I indeed do know what it's like to lose a team that I care about and I never once felt like taking my animosity out on the city they relocated to. Hell, I actually supported the Titans from afar for several years until enough players left that it didn't resemble the team that left Houston. That said, a tagline that doesn't refer to the team's move wouldn't bother me. That single event shouldn't define the future of the team but seeing as how we don't have any other events in our team's history to reference, it makes sense that suggestions include that in them.
Re: Houston Forum Tagline Please, no references to the "Houston, we have a problem" quote. That is so old and played out it is unreal. Don't mean to sound difficult, I just really hate the fact that anything news story that relates to Houston immediately has some variation of that quote as a lead-in...I've probably heard it 1000 times on SportsCenter alone.
Re: Houston Forum Tagline I love it when people drop the "HWHAP" line towards Houston sports teams thinking they are being so cute, clever and original, when in reality it is anything but. Reminds me of the "My Name is Earl" scene when Earl and Randy are in jail, dressed in a priest and nun costumn. Randy explains to Earl that his costumn is funny because he "is dressed like a woman, BUT, he's really a man."
Re: Houston Forum Tagline Tagline: Instead of being happy that we have a team, how about we just bitch about everything?
Re: Houston Forum Tagline Good stuff. How about this, "We hate Field Turf more than we love having a Team"
Re: Houston Forum Tagline I guess I've been to 4 or 5 texans games this season. I'm really looking forward to some good football come April. Consider this tagline nominated.
Nominations close, polling begins at 5:00 pm 1/1/06 Announcement We'll close this thread and set up the poll tomorrow, Sunday, Jan. 1 at 5:00 pm. At that time, we'll open the poll and leave it open for voting through Wednesday, Jan. 4 at midnight. If you have any last-minute nominations, please post them here before 5:00 pm on Jan. 1. The suggestions that we've identified so far are listed below. We believe that these taglines are the ones that Houston fans have either suggested or seconded. As several people have requested, we've left out the suggestions that refer to San Jose. What we've identified so far: Can you take the heat? Houston Proud Houston, we have a franchise! The only team in Texas Better football than the Texans
