I'm not liking the way things are shaping up for our boys. Sounds like a lousy defense, I'll chalk it up to pre-season adjustments and just hope for the best. At least we got our taste of Ricketts.
How can it be a first choice LA lineup if Tony Sanneh is starting in defense (and scoring goals for the other side)? Sounds to me like someone doesn't really know what the Galaxy's first choice lineup might consist of if this were the regular season. I hope Bruce was just being cautious since he wanted to give Wicks some playing time anyway given that Cronin played against Seattle. It seems like we really need Ricketts at goal.
not happy with this. on the bright side- wicks played for 30 minutes and didn't concede! who would've thunk it?
is this a joke? i mean it's almost a cliche. early goals, own goals, dema in a shoving match, injured goal keeper, old players for whom the game has passed them by, home losses. "oh well it's just a preseason game"
Well, WHO else do we have for defense then??? Maybe Bruce is making our boys look bad so Beckham and Milan will take anything just so Becks is gone and doesnt cause any more problems here.
Must go by the old bromide, "If you can't say something nice about somebody, don't say anything at all." And the blog is very good at that.
The only positive thing I can think of to say, is that we're expecting it to be a disaster, so it can only get better. Damn, even I dont believe what I just wrote.
Sanneh wasn't cut in the first round of cuts, was he? You're taking away my happiness, Baysider. Denial is my friend.
Yes the most alarming thing that we do know about today's friendly is that Sanneh was even on the f'n field to put in an own goal in the 3rd minute, That means he started. Bruce, please for the love of god, NO!
Oh, it gets even better. Not only is the lineup missing, they're giving us the runaround. The Galaxy blog now tells us to look for a nonexistent full recap on the official site.
uhm..ok Bruce...the only explanation i have for this is that you're trying to fool all of us only to come out victorious at the beginning of the season....let's all pray the man has a plan....
Hey guys - Here are my observations on the scrimmage last Thursday. To summarize: - If Tony Sanneh sees significant minutes for the Galaxy, things are really, really bad. - Franklin looked good in for about 15 minutes then seemed to fade pretty noticably, but that's to be expected. - Omar was pretty non-descript, which is probably a positive. - Josh Boateng looked like the most dangerous player during his 45 minutes. I'd love for people to start reading the site - even though Examiner.com is owned by the Anschutz, I promise to be as unbiased as possible.
Awesome report, thank you very much. Please always link your stories here and I promise to read them. Interesting to note that Dunnivent didn't play as he's not fit yet. Nice to hear that Boateng looked impressive. Great work!
I'm with Mbar on this. It was great to be able to read about the match, our starting lineup, etc. Keep it up, and I'm sure you'll have many readers on here. If you keep posting the links, it'll help as we may forget to check the actual site. Thanks for the report!
At the risk of betraying that I haven't followed all the ins and outs of roster moves etc beyond the Galaxy over the past few years... ...since when is Tony Sanneh even a centerback? I was actually a fan of him during his national team days, and that was so long ago that I'm a bit hazy, but I don't ever seem to recall him playing at centerback. I don't have the impression that he played there when he was in Germany. So it must have been in MLS. Can someone who is more of an MLS geek explain when he started playing that position, for who, and with what results?
Pretty good reporting. I'll be reading. Is there a way to track your articles? RSS? Or will you post them here?
