Despite financing the Frenchman's transfer activity to the tune of more than £103m, the Anfield board are prepared to sanction another significant outlay in their desperation to claw back Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United. They are committed to paying £ 14m for Auxerre striker Djibril Cisse and hope to generate additional funds for Houllier from player sales, Champions League qualification and ventures with finance specialists Hawkpoint.
