There is some progress by ADs in filling positions much quicker than they have in the past - most within a month. In the past, some of the smaller schools held out to save $$$ letting assistants run the program so they didn't have to double pay or ADs took a long break over the holidays and started search in January.

Looks like this may have contributed to the mysterious change at LIU. Wonder if it will also impact who they can get to come in. https://longisland.news12.com/ncaa-...spread-student-athlete-eligibility-violations
This has nothing to do with the coaching change with former coach. men's soccer ran a clean program eligibility wise there. The athletic department there is an absolute disaster
"The school and NCAA agreed to several penalties including three years of probation, vacation of team and individual records in sports in which ineligible players competed during the four years, including baseball, football, men's basketball, men’s golf, men’s soccer, softball, men’s indoor and outfield track and field, women’s indoor and outdoor track and field, and women’s volleyball, a $30,000 fine plus 3% of the budgets for the four highest-budgeted sports programs involved in the violations and a two-week ban on all recruiting for each sport during the first year of probation." Maybe not the reason for the coaching change but they played ineligible players according to this article. May be more on the compliance guy but there also has been no other reasoning, especially since he did so well. Seems like you have some insight?
Maybe not the reason for the coaching change but they played ineligible players according to this article. May be more on the compliance guy but there also has been no other reasoning, especially since he did so well. Seems like you have some insight? I never said any of this was definite or that I have any info other than the article. I am trying to figure it out since there has not been a lot of information and it's pretty odd to fire a successful coach and still not have hired a new one this late. I know things are slow but I'm sure you guys can find something else to argue about.
"The school and the NCAA agreed to several penalties....." sounds to me like a settlement. Almost like they had some other violations that probably impacted bigger programs but settled on this less severe more broad penalties to save some face. If that NCAA Violation doesn't scream lack of institutional guidance-when this violation covers 30 something sports and 1,000 something athletes, it has nothing to do with the coaches of any of those sports and everything with lack of leadership by administration and greed of the higher ups. Also, the position hasn't been filled yet due to the same lack of leadership from the Athletic director and athletic administration and because Mens soccer is not a priority at LIU.
The basketball program got some recent publicity in Spike Lee's last film, where a LIU basketball camp was featured prominently in the film... with a famous pretend head coach.
