Heard the App State coach did something "silly." I'm not sure if he was let go or not but he has not been around. Unless they have done something don't see the coaches at Gardner-Webb or Coastal Carolina being in trouble. GW new to the conference and Coastal has won their conf reg season the last 2 years and made it to the tournament finals losing 2-1 and on PK's. They are getting a new AD so who knows.

Still no Pac-10 title, barely squeeked past Rutgers and Portland, and then a fifth round loss they should have won. Rat needs to win the championship this year or he's out.

    :D Sorry, I couldn't stop myself.

Generally speaking is there a typical contract length a new coach is offered? 2 years, 5 years?

What about UVa, Penn State, Texas and BC. All schools have an abundance of talent and not even a final four.

Well, Penn State Has had final fours, most memorably the semi in 2005 against Portland that some say was the real championship that year. That game went to PK's and PSU came out on the short side, but Penn State is still credited with an undefeated season. Portland went on to easily beat UCLA.

The record book shows they have made it to the semifinal game two other times,(2002,1999) each time losing to the eventual champs and being credited to a third place finish.

Virginia is also credited with a third place finish in 1991.

Maybe we need a new thread for the '09 season?

PR does not need to win the championship. He has elevated the program to the final four. Cal and USC are sitting hotter than Stanford, that's for sure.

not a team that many folks follow...and they won their first conference game last night....but murray state had a rocky start.
also wondering why they weren't playing their starting keeper from last year. seems very up and down with them.

How can a coach who won a tittle in 2007(his first year) be on the hot seat? We'll have to assume that you were joking.

Paul R. removed himself from the hot seat last year. His first of many finals 4s at Stanford.

You might have a case with Cal but they will breakthrough eventually. They have recruited extremelly well.

Yes, I was kidding, glad you were paying attention. None of these coaches are on the hot seat. Cal is having a good year and it's too early to judge, SC obviously has a proven coach, and Stanford is now a threat from here on out. And that's because of PR.

I doubt Acreman is in trouble based off past performances. One even mediocre season isn't enough to heat the seat for her. As for the GK, not sure but perhaps it's an injury? Perhaps she has not been performing. No one is irreplaceable.

Murray State GK replaced due to lack of effort at practice.

Correct statement- anyone, and everyone can be replaced at the college level.

Interesting to see how they finish the OVC season- the co.nference as whole is not touting any strong teams

I was perfectly serious - about how seriously to take these threads that is. The only thing Rat had to worry about last year was personal frustration. And each year only one coach doesn't end up feeling that way.

Whats happening at App State? Assistant coach is coaching, the AD's wife is the GK coach? What happened to Ben?
    Anyone?

SS is one of the best coaches in the game. Period. Not even worth discussing.

Does anyone know what the situation at Clemson is? This is very unfortunate, they have only gone downhill since he got there. Clemson has the potential to be great. Great school, great conference, great facilities, lots of money. Does he have a contract or would he really be on the chopping block this year?

Looking at his Bio, I see he was hired in January, 2008.

That's way to late for recruiting the fall 2008 class, and the way soccer recruiting goes, probably too late to gat any top players for the fall 2009 class.

As a comparison, most teams are now recruiting the 2011 class and getting started on the 2012 class.

It's a bit early to judge him, I think The players that are there now are from the last coach, not him.
