I have heard two different rumors on Nicholls State. One is that because of budgets (the state, etc.) they are making the asst. coach the head coach. The other rumor is that they have had an interview or two. I keep hearing it is a dead end job. Not sure if I have helped anyone- I just heard those two stories.
Is there any information on who Holy Cross is looking at to take over their program? Who up there would be interested?
This looks like a tough job. Not alot of athletic scholarship money, difficult academic standards and not much previous success. There are not many if any D1 head coaches that would be looking at this job. One would think an Ivy League or Patriot League asst coach would be up for this job. I did hear they are seriously looking for a female to fill this position. With Colgate having soo much more money than the rest of the league and the recent success of Army, Lehigh, Navy and Bucknell. DB will get American back to the top soon it seems that Laf and HC will battle for the basement for the next few years. Best of luck to the new head of The College of Holy Cross
And there were 4. HC has been calling people of interest. They might just stay put with asst. The girls all really like her. The others are asst coaches from the northeast. 2 of which have ncaa tourny experience and the other is a women. 3 women and 1 male. Still not sure how much money the school has for soccer
heard there was an asst coach (male) from the big 12 interested....think they made the tourny? not a bad idea to get an outsider........
Brian Zwaschka was named head coach at Fresno State http://www.gobulldogs.com/sports/w-soccer/spec-rel/040309aaa.html
I found this. It's not D1 news, but still interesting. "Coach" from Survivor Tocantins lost his job coaching Southwest Baptist's women's team in MO. Being dishonest about why he was taking leave (Survivor not mentioned. Cancer was alluded to). http://www.realityblurred.com/realitytv/archives/survivor_tocantins/2009_Feb_19_ben_wade_fired
You mean my comment, or that of the coach? I was pointing out a comment that seemed to illuminate his character, and not in a particularly good way, but I wasn't trying to make any jokes.
I was referring to the coach's comments. It's hard to believe that even if the guy did the things he allegedly admits to, he would actually say that stuff.
Holy Cross has hired a male. They are keeping the asst coach from last year. Strong club ties in Mass little or no college experience.
And here is the release for Holy Cross. It's Gallagher. http://goholycross.cstv.com/sports/w-soccer/spec-rel/042409aaa.html
"We selected him from a very impressive pool of candidates, many of whom would have been successful at Holy Cross." Does this seem curious to anyone? This coach might awesome but is there no college experience on his resume? The W-League is wildly inconsistent and everyone knows US Club and SuperY "National Titles" are bogus. Is he well-connected somehow or did Holy Cross only have 30K in their budget for this position? I think it's cool that he's getting a crack at it but very interesting...... how helpful would the best connection to MPS telent be for HC?
Rumor is a huge $$$$$$$$$$ guy from HC kid plays for MPS. Better to know the big shot people than have experience
Neil Stafford, the head women's soccer coach at Assumption College since 2001 has resigned that position effective immediately. The announcement was made by Ted Paulauskas, Director of Athletics. Stafford is expected to accept another position in the collegiate ranks in the near future. Any idea where he is going?
