I am going to revive this thread from the dead.

    Opinions?

    I am leaning Horvath.

It hasn’t changed for me. Horvath has the higher ceiling but he has to play. This will be an interesting move. They seem to have an in prime starter at GK. I’m sure he gets a chance but still figured he’d go for a lock starter move.

Neither is a lock, so it'll depend on form.

If both are riding pine, use someone who's actually playing.

Horvaths move can lock him on the bench again and that does nothing but keep him from developing. Steffen plays cup games and that doesn't help either. Neither really have a grasp on the starting job. Not sure Turner has really proved or disproved his status. I honestly feel it comes down to who is playing and who is not.

All in all, I have always felt Horvath was a more complete keeper with better positioning but not as strong or explosive. Steffen is more stand on your head and make crazy saves but sometimes lacks positioning and decisions. Depends on what you look for in a starter. Does someone come out of the blue and nab the number 1?

Ochoa is already very complete keeper. Neither Horvath or Steffen is. If he keeps growing the way he's been doing, he will play in 2022 for someone.

Does he have a realistic chance for this cycle though?
    Honest question.

Hard to tell when nobody knows which our keeper is playing where and how much.

    Yes.
But usually this close to the Hex... ...Ocho a manager just goes with guys he has used in big moments. Even if they are not really playing much.
So I find it quite hard to believe Ochoa is going to get a chance soon. Maybe in friendlies after Qualifying is over or something like that.

Watch his last game against LAFC. A few games like that and he can't be ignored. He also might choose Mexico, unfortunately.

If you mean being on a Roster during qualifying then maybe he can't be ignored.

I just find it hard to believe he is going to Start come September. Or October Or November, etc.
