    That's Non Burn Related.

Figure this IS the offseason, so a thread or two about non Burn stuff would be ok. Anywho, I made my slightly inflammatory anti-Longhorn post Friday at 4:30ish, right when I get off work, and I wasn't back online until this AM. And I didn't want to risk hijacking the worthy 'Austin Posse' thread.

Anyway, UT is the not the ultimate sports power in the universe. I WAS way offline with my comment on UT baseball. I guess that cause when I think of good college baseball in Texas nowadays I think of Rice.

It's debatable whether UT is a greater sports school than a couple of your neighbors, namely OU and LSU.

Massgeno, sorry about my confusion re: the the PDL Spurs vs. Tornados. Obviously, I'm pretty far removed from the North Texas soccer scene. Anything I know about it, I learned here.

I'll Whoop to that. In the only sport that matters, us Aggies (guys and girls) always kick t.u.'s asses. Suck it Horns.

Ah, some Aggies. Hook'em. Gig'em. Whatever. We just yell, "Tiger Bait!"

What's up with that weird orange color anyway? Is it just me or is a cow not THE most intimidating mascot in world? I guess it's better than hornfrogs, but probably not as scary as owls.

While this isn't exactly sports related can either of you offer any insight as to UT Austin vs. Texas A&M 's MBA programs?

Those good ol' Huskers. Interesting how their football program has crumbled once they had to play more than one competitive match each regular season.

Just how many coaches passed up the chance to coach at Lincoln?

Didn't you guys used to be good, or something? Seriously, we heard all of this noise in '95 and '96 from y'all about how we were a charity case, how we didn't belong in the same conference as you, yadda yadda yadda, and since then, we've done nothing but administer one beatdown after another to y'all.

Seriously, there's pretty much only one school in the Big XII that has anything to say to UT about anything, and even then, they're pretty much confined to football. After all, UT owns OU in basketball these days.

So while we're waiting for Mike Segroves to wander by, all of you Agro-Americans and Corncobheads can run along. Drunken Cajuns can stick around, mostly because they amuse us.

Woo-hoo! Score one for the drunk Cajuns. #1 in football, and gunning for #1 in baseball....

And I'm guessing the fact that we happened to beat the aforementioned OU in certain Bowl game doesn't hurt either, right?

Aggie jealousy extends so far, they put the Horns in their fight song. UT, on the other hoof, is indifferent to the lesser school near Houston.

aggs don’t even try to compete at other sports besides football.

Sure UT fails to live up to expectations better than most comparable state schools on the football field.

I guess we'll just have to fall back on our immeasurably superior academic reputation and let the hicks whoop it up on the football field.

    It's still a frickin cow.

I hear Austin is much nicer than College Station, though. But sadly, much more expensive..............

Actually, Bevo's a steer, which could explain why so many guys from t.u. come across like they were castrated as well. :)

I graduated from A&M in 1991. And I have been and will continue to be above the fray.

    See how I did that?

The only school in Texas comparative academically is also near Houston, and we both know Hoo Hoo Hoo, they are ;-)

At least Texas has high expectations. Aggs are worse than Red Sox fans; they just know that something will happen to ruin their season b4 it starts.

Austin is the coolest city in this great state. On any given wkend, you’ll find 6th street and the hill country crawling w/ slack-jawed Aggie or Boomer Spooner fans. It’s expensive, but not much worse than Dallas…esp if you reside on the wrong side of I-35.

Now thats an understatement. Austin is super fun, but you can get good and drunk in The Station for 10 bucks, where it'll cost you at least twice that in Austin. Incedentially I was in Austin in saturday, as our Aggie club soccer team drew with St. Edwards' Varsity (D2) side. Luckily for St. Ed's we couldn't finish, because if we had scored the 3 breakaways we missed, it'd look pretty ************ for their program.

You would hope they would be academically comparable at 10-20 times the cost of tuition!

Fukhead -- the two greatest sports powers in the college universe are UT (Texas) and Stanford.

    All else is dross.

Isn't there a thread for you Ags to dis Baylor on?

I mean OU, LSU -- they have some solid standing to rag on the Horns.

Jump above mid-major, and then pop off.

    Re: Re: Hook'em [NBR]

Even though I’m a lifelong SC fan & have NoCal roots, UCLA has had great teams in just about every sport except Boreball. And I think their women's softball teams are usually good.

I found these factoids from their homepage:

    1. UCLA finished as the #1 overall Collegiate Athletic Program of the 20th Century and is #1 into the 2000's.

    2. Into the 2004 school year, UCLA led all colleges in NCAA team championships won with 90. All 90championships have been won since 1950. No school can match UCLA's variety of successful teams.

    3. Since the 1976 Olympics, UCLA has produced more Olympians and Olympic Medals than any other university. UCLA was #1 in overall gold medals among all college since 1976 going into the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.
