HK league is at its lowest point in its history. Nobody is watching it because there are too many alternatives with better entertainment (EPL, La Liga, etc). An attendence of 2000 is considered very good attendence in a match. Compare that to the 60s and 70s when matches consistently drew 20000+ in attendance.

For league info, go to HKFA's website:

That's to be expected. Plenty of Northerners play in the South and Southerners in the North these days. But yeah I share your concern, the unique Hong Kong style of play is being threatened. :D

I think it is, they have some world famouse clubs which the mainland doesn't have,I mean the South China FC, they have the longest history in current Chinese clubs, Should we invite them to CSL?

    I agree.

Also, being more media savvy, the management and marketing people from Hong Kong could help the mainland package and market the sport better.

Also, as a rule of thumb, the current Hong Kong mainstream culture has a lot less corruption than the mainland. In fact, Hong Kong is ranked among the cleanest governments in the world. So there are a lot of lessons in this area for the mainland to learn from HK as well.

i don't understand the fifa rules, but wouldn't that be the death of the HK federation? Though I actually think they should just scrap it and join the CFA anyways...

When they play against the Chinese national team, their usual tactic is stuff the back. :D

But in all seriousness, Hong Kong has been beating the Guangdong team recently in their annual two-match Guangdong-HK Cup, so maybe it can form a decent team in the mainland league if it's an operationally feasible thing to do.

    You're a real fan seb!

Rangers has a very cool Chinese name so I liked it from early on. Was the number one or number two strongest team then. Nice to see they are still up among the top three.

Don't forget to spread the wealth when you finally get around to pick up the big check from the Hong Kong government. I'd imagine it's in the millions, with result like this.

Hong Kong was actually pretty good in that game...I remember they had a striker named Janny who was sick. Anyone heard of him??
