What a performance from Chan Shinichi! Great player at just 18 years old. Hope to see him shine for club and country.

Great performance from KC Southern. Nice freekick by Sasaki Shu right at the end.

It is a little strange to see these two teams play in the HK stadium.

What a joy it was to watch Pinheiro casually ping the ball out of the back.

Full-Time: Eastern Long Lions Vs KC Southern - 1:0

A Lucas Silva goal was enough to seal three points for Eastern Long Lions as they go on top of the league. Despite the loss, I thought that KC Southern's young goalkeeper Choy Tsz-To who started ahead of Tse Tak-Him had a decent performance with a string of saves.

Decent saves from Choy. But he looks a bit too small to succeed in that position.

Common problem in Hong Kong. We don't have a large player pool.

Full Time: Kitchee SC Vs Lee Man FC - 2:1

It was an important game for both sides as Kitchee needed a win to keep their HKPL title chase alive whilst a win for Lee Man would've seen them leap past Eastern to go top of the HKPL.

Shinichi Chan's corner kick delivery found its way to Nikola Komazec who gave Kitchee the early lead. However, Lee Man levelled the score back through Michael N'Dri from the penalty spot after Kitchee captain Huang Yang's unfortunate handball. In the late stages of the second half, once again Shinichi Chan's delivery from the corner kick spot found its way to Tong Kin Man who once again gave Kitchee the lead. Kitchee held on for an extra seven minutes of stoppage time and the win pretty much keeps their title chase alive.

Which is why I think Tse Ka Wing and Yuen Ho Chun should be the future, after Yapp.

I'm surprised Tse is wasting his time being 2nd fiddle on R&F.

Full Time: Happy Valley AA Vs R&F HK - 2:5

Seven goals had been scored during the match. Happy Valley's goalkeeper To Chun-Kiu's poor pass was intercepted by Lam Zhi-Gin who found Serge Deble and scored the first goal to give R&F HK the lead. Serge Deble got his second when he headed the ball in to the net ahead of Happy Valley defender Yip Cheuk Man to double the lead going in to the end of the first half.

Happy Valley did manage to pull a goal back through Ng Ka Yeung's aerobatic shot which went in to the far side of the net. However, R&F HK restored their lead after Lam Zhi-Gin fired the ball home and a few minutes after kick-off began, Happy Valley conceded once again to give Serge Deble his hat-trick of the match which gave them a two goal lead.

Happy Valley were not done just yet as Jahangir Khan's low cross delivery found its way to debutant Henry Hills Moore who slotted the ball in to the net. In the last few minutes of the second half, Luis Chebel Nunes headed the ball to seal three points.

Yip and Khan played very well. Still just teenagers, don't be surprised if they make their way into the HKNT in a few years.

Bluntly, it's about money and stability. Look at his career so far - he wasted months of his life trying to get a work permit in England, which failed. Then he comes back to Hong Kong and plays for starvation wages at Rangers. He leaves the following season to join Dreams who can't even pay their players on time.

If you put yourself in his shoes, it's not hard to understand why players like him would go to R&F. This a club that can offer multi-year contracts, a pay raise and their training facilities are better than most teams in the league.

When every year, you have clubs who run into financial troubles, are forced to let their entire squads go, and/or self-relegate, you quickly realize how unstable professional football is in Hong Kong. Look at the number of former Tai Po and Yuen Long players who remain unemployed, for example. How many of those players will quit football instead of waiting to find another team?

Add in the fact that the pandemic will inevitably force clubs to reduce their budgets and suddenly, playing "2nd fiddle" at R&F isn't such a bad gig.

Sapling Cup Final - Full Time: Kitchee SC Vs KC Southern - 3:1

Today was the final of the Sapling Cup in which Kitchee SC beated KC Southern to win the title.

Kitchee took the early lead through a penalty after KC Southern's Christopher Chung fouled Shinichi Chan within the box with Matthew Elliot Orr Wing Kai scoring from the spot. However their lead was soon cancelled after Chan Hoi Pak's free kick cross founded Roberto Fronza who was left unmarked to equalise for KC Southern before the end of the first half.

Kitchee regained their lead after Shinichi Chan's shot was blocked by Choy Tsz-To, but the ball found its way to Wellingson de Souza who slotted the ball past the goal.

Kitchee got their third after Barak Braunshtain's superbly taken free kick beated Choy Tsz-To which went in to the net.

Kitchee SC held on to be crowned champions of the Sapling Cup. Shinichi Chan was awarded the man of the match.

Hong Kong FA Cup Final: Eastern Long Lions Vs R&F HK - 2:0

Eastern Long Lions finally got their second silverware in six years by beating R&F HK to win the 2019/20 season of the FA Cup final with goals from Clayton Michel Afonso and Everton Camargo (who was awarded man of the match.) There were a few occasions where I do question some of the referee's decisions in some parts of the match.

The win gives Eastern a place at the play-off spot for the 2021 AFC Cup.

Full-Time: Happy Valley Vs KC Southern - 1:1

Happy Valley finally earned their first point of the HKPL restart where they held KC Southern in a draw.

Happy Valley almost took the lead when Poon Pui-Hin's cross found Chu Wai-Kwan whose shot hitted the crossbar. Later on, Chu Wai-Kwan finally scored after he managed to squeeze the ball past the KC Southern defense to give Happy Valley the lead.

In the second half, KC Southern got their equaliser when Shu Sasaki's corner kick curled towards Happy Valley's goalkeeper Chung Wai-Ho who failed to get a hand on the ball which sailed past him and in to the net.

The score stayed 1:1 which meant that this ended KC Southern's chances of the HKPL title and possibly end their chances of playing in AFC competitions.

Tomorrow's fixture will be an interesting tie to watch as Kitchee SC take on R&F HK. Both are still in contention for the title race as a win for either teams will put them ahead of Eastern Long Lions since they do have a game in hand.

    Full-Time: Kitchee SC Vs R&F HK - 3:2

Five goals were scored at the Tsueng Kwan O Sports Ground with Kitchee SC gaining a vital three points which puts them in pole position ahead of Eastern Long Lions.

On the 17th minute, R&F goalkeeper Zhou Yuchen failed to get a hand on the ball from Wellingson de Souza's shot in which Law Tsz-Chun dashed past Sean Tse to tuck in to the net to give Kitchee SC the early lead.

Ten minutes later, Kitchee SC were awarded a penalty after Sean Tse deliberately handled Manu Gavilan's shot on goal and was given his marching orders by the referee in which R&F HK are down to ten men. Manu Gavilan stood up to take the penalty and scored his first goal for Kitchee, making the score 2:0 before the break.

In the second half, R&F HK pulled a goal back when Helio's clearance was intercepted by Serge Deble who passed the ball to Giovane da Alves Silva who scored, making it 2:1.

On the 76th minute, it was Giovane who was once levelled the scoring within the Kitchee box from Igor Sartori's pass. The score is now tied 2:2.

Four minutes later, a good build-up between Matthew Orr Wing Kai and Dani Cancela setted up the winner for Kitchee in which Wellingson de Souza launched a powerful shot past Zhou Yuchen, restoring the lead.

Very good case could be made for Yeung Ching Kwong to be sacked.

Can't blame him after Sean Tse stupidly got a red early in the match... no idea what Tse was thinking. I'm having 2nd thoughts on him being a starter on the HKNT.

It's not just about yesterday. They've spent $100 million over the past two seasons and won nothing. Right now, they need to win out just to finish second.

I'll give them credit for the way they fought back after going a man down but they've needed to play with that level of intensity since Yeung took over.
