https://gbcode.rthk.hk/TuniS/news.rthk.hk/rthk/en/component/k2/1848344-20260322.htm?share=facebook The Football Association of Hong Kong, China (HKFA) announced on Sunday that an international friendly match between the SAR and Nepal has been cancelled. In a statement, the HKFA said it's been notified by the All-Nepal Football Association that the match, originally slated to take place on March 26 in Kathmandu, has to be called off due to rising political tension there. The HKFA said it understands and respects the organiser's decision, adding that the Hong Kong, China squad will focus on preparing for its game against India in the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers that will take place at the end of the month. ======================================================= Some fans have already travelled to Kathmandu and some will continue sightseeing there, others will change their flights to return to HK. I hope all of them stay safe.
Jason Kam Chi Kin, Barak Braunshtain and Lam Hin Ting have been added to the squad after Vas Nunez and Sohgo Ichikawa withdrew due to injuries. With the Nepal friendly cancelled, I am not sure whether Losada and his team are going to be well prepped against India.
Here is the starting eleven to play against India. Pong Cheuk Hei and Barak Braunshtain will win their first senior international caps.
Full Time: India Vs Hong Kong - 2:1 Roberto Losada's first international away game in charge and the national team's final AFC Asian Cup qualifiers ended with a narrow loss against the hosts as goals from Ryan Williams and Akash Mishra gave India their first win of their AFC Asian Cup qualifiers campaign. Although Everton Camargo did pull a goal back courtesy of Barak Braunshtain's assist.
I will be surprised if Roberto Losada gets the HKNT coach job, given Jarn Andersen has thrown his hat into the ring.
HK League Cup Final: Lee Man 2:1 Kitchee Lee Man managed to win some silverware this season by defeating Kitchee. Kitchee was lackluster in this final. Sometimes when Kitchee finds form, they are unstoppable, but that form doesn't last long, it could disappear even within a match. On this day they never found it.
What do you all think of Andersen re-applying for the job? Excited? Or you don't want to go backwards?
I had a feeling that Jorn Andersen was going re-apply for the job. Hard to say at the moment especially which the HKFA had almost 300 applicants for the role which will not be decided until June. Although I am going to say that I do not think Roberto Losada will be getting the permanant position. I know Kitchee are disappointed not to win the silverware and the loss will certainly give the club and Inigo Calderon a lot of food for thought considering that they are on the verge of securing the HKPL title as well as competing in the Asian Champions League 2 if they can get the win in the weekend.
Eastern SC thumped Hong Kong Football Club by five goals that secured their place in the Championship group stage where they will join alongside Tai Po, Lee Man, North District and current leaders Kitchee who could win the HKPL title depending on Lee Man's result against North District tomorrow. As for Hong Kong Football Club, they finished bottom of the league and are likely to be relegated, although the club are still awaiting to see if they will remain in the HKPL for another season from the HKFA. Such a shame really, but for a club that had stuck with Chancey Cooke as their head coach who has been on a long winless streak, I don't understand if anyone from the senior management even cared or showed any commitment and effort about being in the HKPL at all. The club had developed several decent players in the past couple of seasons which include the likes of Timothy Chow, Raphael Merkies as well as Callum Beattie who all went on to join bigger clubs and represent the national team (although Beattie has yet to win his first international cap.) In addition, I'd hope that several of their young players from Cai McGunnigle, Jack Bennie, Nicholas Kedwards, William Mirwasser will be picked up and transferred over to other HKPL clubs as I do see a lot of potential with these young players.
After Lee Man's draw against North District, Kitchee secured their HKPL title before even entering the Championship Group stage. The club needed a result against BC Rangers and goals from Leandro Martinez and Anson Wong Ho Chun were enough to secure the win they needed. As the new HKPL champions, the club also secured their place in next year's Asian Champions League 2 having last appeared two years ago.
Kitchee 2:0 BC Rangers It is good that Kitchee have finally won the league again. I will be interested to watch them play in ACL2. It will be a tough challenge but they do have better resources than most other clubs in HK.
Despite already being crowned as the new HKPL champions, Kitchee's unbeaten streak in the Hong Kong Premier League came to an end after a disasterous result against rivals Lee Man. This probably isn't the result Inigo Calderon was looking for, but I do think this will give him and the club lots of food for thought in terms of which areas Kitchee could seek to strengthen during the Summer transfer window as well as to accomodate the Asian Champions League 2 competition.
Lee Man 4:1 Kitchee Tai Po FC 3:2 Golik Northern District A cracking game. Golik Northern District somehow failed to score more than 2 while they conceded 3... If they can improve their defense then they will be a real force to be reckoned with next season.
https://www.timeout.com/hong-kong/n...la-are-coming-to-hong-kong-this-summer-042126 Hong Kong has some big plans for local football fans this year. Following the announcement of the six-month FIFA Museum opening in Causeway Bay this May, two of Europe’s legendary football clubs – FC Bayern Munich and Aston Villa – have recently confirmed they will be playing in the city this summer. Set to face off at the Kai Tak Stadium on August 7, the fixture marks a significant return for both teams. The reigning German champions FC Bayern last set foot on a Hong Kong pitch in 2007, while seven-time FA Cup winners Aston Villa will be returning to Hong Kong after 15 long years.
https://www.thestandard.com.hk/news...ter-City-Inter-Chelsea-and-Juventus-in-August Hong Kong will once again take center stage on the global football calendar this summer, as the Hong Kong Football Festival (HKFF) returns with four of Europe’s most decorated clubs. Scheduled from July 31 to August 5, the festival will feature Manchester City, FC Internazionale Milano, Chelsea FC, and Juventus, with two headline matches staged at the 50,000-seat Kai Tak Stadium. The event follows last year’s edition, which drew more than 100,000 spectators, signaling renewed momentum for large-scale international sport in the city. The opening fixture on August 1 will see Manchester City face Inter Milan, while Chelsea will take on Juventus on August 5. Both matches are positioned as key pre-season tests for the clubs ahead of the 2026/27 campaign, bringing elite-level competition to local fans. Each team arrives with a distinguished record. Manchester City have dominated English football in recent years, while Inter continue to lead in Italy’s Serie A. Chelsea and Juventus, both steeped in European success, add further depth to a lineup that reflects decades of footballing excellence.
While it is good to have such European heavy weights visit Hong Kong, I miss how in the past they would take on a local club instead of just playing among themselves. Maybe it is no longer viable for a local club to play host for such events in the business environment today.
From Joga.Bonito 7's instagram: Everton's contract with Lee Man is due to finish at the end of June. I somewhat get a feeling Kitchee might also potentially pounce on Callum Hall and Dani Almazan if the speculation is true. But since they are going into the ACL 2, the club will need to secure decent signings during the Summer Transfer Window.
HKFA chairman Eric Fok said HKNT will host an international friendly in June, probably at Kai Tak Stadium, with the opponent to be announced in due course. Some people speculated that the opponent will be Italy, who missed out on the World Cup finals. But I doubt that very much.
Although Hong Kong Football Club would be relegated (although they are in talks with the HKFA in hopes of staying in the HKPL) at this stage, they picked up their second win of their campaign as they stunned Eastern District with goals from youngsters Cai McGunnigle and Max Chan. However, drama ensued right at the final minutes when Eastern District's Bruno Bianconi fouled HKFC goalkeeper Brian Lau Wai Hon that led to a scuffle from Auston Kranick in which Bianconi retaliated. Hugo Moreira and Li Ngai hoi were also involved in which the referee had no other choice but to give Bianconi, Li, Moreira and Kranick their marching orders with red cards.
BREAKING | HOSTS CONFIRMED FOR FIFA ASEAN CUP 2026 FIFA and ASEAN Football Federations have officially signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and confirmed the tournament format for the inaugural FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 during the 76th FIFA Congress. Tournament Structure: Two divisions system Indonesia – Host of Division 1 Hong Kong – Host of Division 2 The official announcement is set to be delivered by FIFA President Gianni Infantino later today. A historic step forward for Southeast Asian football — a new era is coming! Stay tuned for more updates! ================================================== I have no idea what this tournament is about...
It's FIFA trying to make money off the growth of football in Southeast Asia. I think eventually they want it to become like the Arab Cup which includes all nationals teams from the Middle East and North Africa.
Division One side Sha Tin are in talks with current champions of Hong Kong's First Division Supreme FC about co-operating and joining forces for next season's Hong Kong Premier League. In addition, Southern who thrashed HKFC have stated that Jonathan Acosta and Shu Sasaki are likely to depart, whilst Japanese-born Kota Kawase will be applying for a HKSAR passport.
As confirmed, Wong Tsz Ho, Manuel Bleda, Dani Almazan, Callum Hall and Liu Fu Yuen will all be departing from Eastern SC.
After four seasons with Lee Man, the club have announced that Everton Camargo is set to depart at the end of the season. There have been speculation that the naturalised Brazilian-born player will be joining HKPL champions Kitchee next season. Supreme FC clinched their Hong Kong First Division title as well as being promoted to next season's Hong Kong Premier League. The club seemingly has also reached an agreement with fellow Division One side Sha Tin to joining forces for next season's Hong Kong Premier League, although they will have to await for the HKFA's approval of their plans.
