Since we have a separate thread for the Gold Cup I decided to make one for the Olympics. News and updates should be posted here.
Mexico U23 defeated Romania U23 1-0 in a friendly match, could speak about the level they currently have #Olímpica | ¡BIEEEN! We face Romania in our opening match
Even though we might have gotten the most accessible group possible, both Games against Romania and South Korea are going to be tough. I say that South Korea are the best team in this group and that 1st game vs Romania is going to be crucial.
I knew that we had a friendly vs Japan but I didn’t know that it was part of the Kirin Cup challenge. We face Spain U23 in July 9 and Japan in July 12.
Denil Maldonado joined the U23 training camp today https://www.google.com/amp/s/us.as.com/us/2021/06/16/futbol/1623800474_865161.amp.html
Hope so they are our second game and imo the second strongest rival after South Korea. If we can manage to win our first two games it would be ideal, i don’t want to leave our qualification to the last game vs South Korea.
Bryan Moya, Andy Najar, Jorge Benguche and Jonathan Rubio are the four finalists to reinforce the Olympic team. https://www.diez.hn/laseleccion/147...-seleccion-sub-23-juegos-olimpicos-2021-tokio Jonathan Rubio is the least likely, and of the remaining 3 the team needs Benguche and Najar more imo.
Love the idea of Najar using the tournament to rocket his way back into the NT set up. Same with Benguche with his club career. Rubio is best of being at the Gold Cup and then joining preseason with his club side, it's not worth him having the same experience as last year.
Yeah if also if Benguche does well in the tournament then maybe another Euro team will give him a chance.
Wouldn’t count him out just because he had a bad loan, look at It Rochez when he was at Orlando City he was basically called a bust.
Honduras U23 defeated Real España in a preparation match 3-2 https://www.diez.hn/laseleccion/147...spana-amistoso-san-pedro-sula-olimpicos-tokio Goals were score by Alejandro Reyes, Luis Palma and Jorge Alvarez.
Optimistic is sky high this summer for the Olympics and a decent showing at the Gold Cup. All this competition is exactly what is needed and the best preparation going into qualifying.
Yeah it’s going to be interesting how the team will change after the competition, I hope that we we get a good number of players getting offers to go abroad.
https://www.diez.hn/laseleccion/147...orge-alvarez-fuera-honduras-juegos-tokio-2021 No Jorge Alvarez or Carlos Pineda for technical reasons.
