Honduras U-21 will play the Gold Medal match of The Central American Games against host nation Costa Rica, after Los Ticos skimmed by Guatemala 2-1.

Congratulate our U-21 boys, as Honduras wins Gold IN Costa Rica over Costa Rica 1-0, thanks to a Brayan Rochez GOLAZO from well outside the area.

Made this thread to track progress of players that will eventually make-up the Honduran Olympic side that will hopefully re-take us to Rio, Brazil in 2016.

The first immediate pool of players played in last year's Central American games in Costa Rica, where they managed to win Gold over host nation. Now many of those players will seemingly make the foundation of the November's Honduran U-21 Central American and Caribbean Games team.

You know as I look back on the 2012 Honduran Olympic team, I find it that it'll be hard as hell for the next generation to yield results as fruitful as that generation. We really did strike gold with that tournament. If it wasn't for London 2012, we probably wouldn't be going to the World Cup lol.

Players from that side that made it to the Quarter-Finals in London:

    Luis Garrido - starter
    Arnold Peralta - starter
    Andy Najar - starter
Mario Martinez - was a starter, has faded out but contributed a lot none the less and will get his shot again 2018
Alex Lopez - future contributor 2018
Johnny Leveron - future contributor 2018
Rommell Quioto - future contributor 2018
Anthony Lozano - future contributor 2018

Even tho it's going to be hard as hell for our next U-23 team to duplicate those feats, I think it has the potential to be even better if guided by the right coach and personnel. Two eventual U-23 players who will be on that team got called-up for the Venezuela game in Brayan Costa and Luis "El Buba" Lopez. Luis Lopez will most likely go to the World Cup this summer as the 3rd goalie and enter the next cycle battling it out with Donis Escober as the next starter for the Honduran NT, while Acosta is a solid CB/RB that will probably still need to mature a bit before he's ready to be thrown into the senior NT fire, but he has all the potential for his age and is an absolute starter for a championship team in Honduras. Even tho Brayan Rochez hasn't been called-up YET, he has shown a lot of potential to be a great player and future #9 for Honduras scoring 7-8 goals this past torneo Apertura for champions Real Espana.

Man this side is going to be pretty nasty if everything stays on course.. we'll see what other players emerge going into qualifiers next year.

It's weird you say that after we just had our most successful youth world cup EVER. I think this next generation is great especially the forwards, as long as we get a good coach to run this team I think we'll be fine.:D

lol I'm waiting to see what that batch of U-17s do when they make the step-up to the U-20 team first before couting any of them in... but on a bright note some of those players have already seen a bevy of playing time like Alberth Elis and Kevin Alvarez of Olimpia, or my blood Jorge Bodden who scored a brace last week in Liga de Ascenso.

Plus a couple of U-23 candidate players have really been showing out like John "Polk" Suazo de Marathon whose been getting more and more playing time. He had a pretty good game against Motagua two nights ago, while Rolin Alvarez has been a huge catalyst for Parrillas One this season.

So much quality. I know we criticize our league a lot for what its not doing, but for the things it is doing with the limited amount of resources alot of these teams and leagues are stuck with.. I say it's not bad. Obviously we can get better, but I mean we are seeing results and I hope we continue to grow on this.

Word, but I think both of their birthdays are after the cut-off date. We'll see once CONCACAF makes an announcement about the tournament date and rules.

so Bryan Rochez scored FOUR goals today against Marathon in El Clasico San Pedrano... while Brayan Martinez de Victoria scored the only goal today in their 1-0 win over Deportes Savio.

I'm glad so many of the U-20 and below players are gaining a lot of valuable minutes in the League, but more importantly, I'm glad they're responding well to the challenges put on them by the coaches of their respective teams. John Pool Suazi and Kevin Espinoza are automatic starters now on a struggling Marathon side, but nonetheless they've been the bright spots of that team, Suazo moreso than Kevin. Maycol Montero is probably the best pure playmaking midfielder/attacker in the league right now, he definitely has what it takes to succeed outside the country at a higher level with his skill set currently on display at Vida. Jose Barralaga anchoring the defense of one of the best teams in the country, Real Sociedad, at only 19, dude has really played beyond himself the last 2-3 tournaments, I really like his game and attitude, aswell as Lesther Zavala whose really solidified that rightback/centerback role in Tela for Parrillas One for good. Same can be said for Brayan Acosta whose also an automatic starter on his star studded squad and has even had the privilege of appearing for the Senior team.

Things are looking good at the moment.

I hope he moves abroad soon, to a bigger league so that he stays humble and keeps improving.. you can already tell he's starting to get too cocky in Honduras.
