So, Leo Posadas ends up signing with a third division German side. Looks like it's one of the least valuable clubs in the league too.

Relatively speaking it's not as prestigious as playing in the Austrian Bundesliga and obviously a level and a bit below Bundesliga. 2.

However, at this point all he needs to be doing is playing football. Hopefully he can develop there and who knows maybe even push for promotion.

So far he hasn't panned out as the hot shot we might have hopped for but luckily Sacaza has cropped up out of nowhere. I still think Posadas has time and potential though so let's watch this space.

 

Think you might be right on this - r.e why he never broke through. Although I don't think it might be speed or something. He looks about 6,1 / 6,2 and I'm sure they could have bulked him out in the gym.

Point remains he never made it at the elite level though, ha.

Like Puerto, assuming both respective clubs make Conference League group stage it's a great step in their development... or, career in the case of Rivas as he's not the youngest.

 

Honestly I feel like he will just end up disappearing, he should have gunned for a second division side in Portugal, Belgium, Greece, Norway, Sweden etc.

It’s just very hard to move up from 3rd division.

 

Look at Cabo Verde and the amount of Fight that they are giving Argentina right now and their performance at this WC, this is why we need to send as many players to Europe as possible.

They have players all around and many not in big clubs.

 

It really is testimony to how playing European football irrespective of the league or division is still so much better from a fitness and tactically perspective.

 

Cano Verdes situation is also similar to Curaçao and Suriname, tiny island with a squad of players primarily situated in Europe.

One of these days they will likely get a competitive generation that could do some real damage in Concacaf.

 

Think I've made this point on here before but I'd put us in the same boat.

You see it with all countries now, the football landscape reflects the globalised world with teams made up of diaspora or players of immigrant backgrounds.

With that said, on the diaspora front I think Costa Rica and maybe even Panama will be at a disadvantage in respect of not having this new pool to choose from.

 

With the new scouting department it will be an advantage at least starting out with the Youth teams.
