    depends on the season
Lucky, lucky me! I'm going to be in town for the opener and I'm very psyched. I hope to see you all there. I'll be the one wearing the red Freedom T... : ) : ) : )

See you soon and GO FREEDOM! (I'm thinking that maybe the original team name was supposed to be French?????) ; )

This sucks that the only way to see this game is to live in NYC and have METRO or be at RFK.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but the Power will still be without their two Aussies...Salisbury and Peters...they are competing for their homeland in the OFC WWC qualifying stuff. The Power won't get 'em back till their third game. Supposedly those two will bring much needed help to the Power. If you watched the match on Saturday against the Beat they definately needed it. I forgot which one but one of them is suppose to provide a Gro Espeseth like presence for them. The Power's defense definately need a hard nosed defender ala Gro/Fettig. Those two brought some bite to the team in the inaugural season. I don't see Boxx or Raveia doing that.

So who will start in goal for the Power? Will it be Smolak or Webber?

    EDIT

Thank SunnyJah for the tape offer. Very much appreciated.

Just what is wrong with New York now? Or was the Beat game just an abberation and a new, mightier Power will appear on the 12th? This is pretty much a brand new team when compared to the 2001 version. Look at their backline from Saturday of Pearce, Boxx, Tietjen, and the own-goal chick and add in Smolak. They've only had months to get things clicking. They just haven't had the gel time as Siri, Grubb, Moore, Barr, and Little.

I wonder if Mia will be in the midfield again with Abigail and Jacqui up top?

    Siri
    Skylar, Moore, Grubb, Barr
    Stoecker, Jones
    L-Squared, Mia???
    Jacqui, Abigail

Wait. Maybe Bai Jie can get her visa issues solved by Saturday. Errrr is she even here yet? I don't think she is. It'd be nice if we had Minnert here.

Freedom win by at least three goals.

What is the weather forecast for this Saturday anyways? I certainly do hope the attendance is good. The home opener for last season (we played the Power then as well) drew 8,206.

Weather here is for sucks right now. Rain is expected the whole week but clearing expected Saturday and temps in the 60s for the day and 40's for the night.

Might have to bundle up a bit and the field could be a mess but could be worse.

You're really lucky. My only chance to watch a game might be to travel to Washington oder to move completely. Moving completely would be cheaper than traveling every weekend (or every second) the nearly 6500 miles from Dortmund, Germany to Washington D.C. :)

Partly cloudy, high in the low 60s.

Hope it's a better game for the Freedom than last year's home opener. ;)

Well last season the Power started things off with a bang then quickly went to the craper. What was it 5-1?
But I agree we need revenge for that game. Mia looks sharp. Lets hope our D has worked out those comunication problems. Siri should take Beulah's advice and pull a Scurry on them. Take out one of her own players to send a clear message "When I say mine I mean MINE!" :p

We will win. 3-1 Mia, Abby and Steffi will score.

According to the Freedom calendar, the co-stars of Bend It Like Beckham will be at the game, signing autographs.

Last year's opener was 4-1, not 5-1 (not that that's a lot better).

I see they're making excuses for NY already, they're missing their Aussies but I guess us missing ours doesn't mean anything.

Also, they seem to forget that the final match of 2001 was played in Annapolis, not RFK. Freedom are 1-1 at RFK in league matches vs NY, 3-5 on the goals. Counting the Unity Game, Freedom are 2-1 with 6-6 on the goals vs NY at RFK. Can't this league get its facts straight?

They also keep reporting that Mia Hamm hasn't gone 90 minutes since the 2001 season, when she went 90 against Philly last July.

How retarded is it that the Freedom home opener isn't on CSN?

Maybe because this is a home game and DC United's opener is an away game that is on CSN.

Will there be a tailgate before the home opener? If so, can you tell me where. I'll be out there for this one. Thanks.

Unless NY's defense is tremendously different than last week this could be a laugher. The defense showed no ability to stop any of the Beat's dribblers even when there were two defenders.

If Mia will ATTACK instead of trying to be the team player she seems to want to be now she may get 3 or 4 goals herself.

Washington cannot take the game for granted as NY does have some powerful offensive weapons.

My call on the game Washington 4 NY 1. (It may not be that close even)
