This is what i find strange.... Jol doesn't want either, but both have potential and are still young, and theres too many rumours about Jol leaving, why would he sell players off who we could use (and paid a lot for) if hes not going stay?!

jol won't leave. mcclaren will, but not jol. he has too much of a good thing going on right now in amsterdam.

this is the first time in years that you hear guys like vertonghen, who is being linked with barca and arsenal (and vdw who turned big clubs down already just like eriksen) comes out and say he wants to stay at ajax because this team is too good to turn his back on, despite the interest.

who is jol being linked with? aston villa, west ham? why would he want to leave ajax and the cl for those clubs? :p

i think the one reason as to why jol doesn't want him (and sulejmani) next year is because we have lots of talented players coming back from loan and others who are coming through the academy, we also haven't really made much use of lodeiro and both the brazilians yet so he just wants to open up space for our squad probably.

also both players have some hefty wages that our youngsters that came through the academy not have (yet).

I think you'll find that Barça now has the best academy in the world. :D

we win on longevity as well as quality and quantity. :D

sure they have messi (although he came from newell's old boys, having been there since a very early age and moved to barcelona when he was 14).
i don't understand why people disregard this fact like newell's old boys are some kind of amature club, which they are clearly not.

but can the rest compete with the likes of van basten, rijkaard and bergkamp? :p

their academy has a golden generation right will be back to what it was in the near future while ajax are still (and will be) coming out with gems.

vdv & sneijder and in a lesser extend babel, heitinga, de jong etc. in recent years with vermaelen and vdw to follow suit.
vdw has already won best young player in the eredivisie this year and will one day be rated with the best.

with oldies like seedorf and vds are still in the game, our academy can rival that of barcelona's today, but we'll always have the better academy.

may i also point out that they've copied our style like many others and it is thanks to michels & cruyff (the ones in this thread title who have both coached barcelona) that their academy is so succesful right now?

The title of this thread gets loftier every time Ajax fails to win a league championship.

Nevertheless, I think Ajax played some wonderful footy this year. I hope the club manages to keep this team together.

we will next year, it's looking very good and thank you lol.

106 goals for and only 20 against, we deserved it as much as twente.

the reason behind this thread title is because of our wonderful footie this season and we will demonstrate it once more on thursday. :p

Sorry to barge in but I just read that because the Ajax reserves failed to beat Twente reserves last night they too lost out on the title (PSV won it). It's pretty funny you have to admit.

even more reason for jol to blame sulejmani and aisati now. :p

waarschijnlijk was de kater van het weekend te groot voor sommige, if not all, van die spelers.

our most talented squad is our b1/u17's, but our emphasis lies with the a1, luckily for us they are doing great!

This team could be something special next season if Jol and the core of the team stay. Given the current economic climate I don't see many big time transfers taking place since many teams need to rebalance finances. Man City are rumored to have picked up two players from Benfica including a striker so they may not be interested in Suarez. Urby may go as he wants more money and Ajax have not offered it (plus Anita's call up to the NT is quite telling). His contract has only one more year to go so we might want to see how much we can get. It would also be good if someone were to take Aissati and Sulejmani off of our hands.

psv want aissati back since this is most probably affelay's last season there. he will probably go for the same amount we bought him for.

sulejmani is tricky, there's not much interest for him since clubs have not seen much of him this season. i hope his europa league goal against juventus spikes some interest.

Nah it was Wieleart (again) that was at fault and cost young Ajax the title. But who cares. It's young Ajax. The team for the not-that-talented and the first team rejects.

I'm only sad about the Eredivisie. We deserved that title. Next year is our year. We'll crush those Germans.

You have to give Twente respect where it's due for holding strong, but over that last part of the year we were just on fire.

The only thing that worries me actually is that Pantelic will likely leave. That guy in my opinion was the most underrated player in the whole squad. He came through with several clutch goals when Ajax needed them - the perfect complement to Suarez.

I really think that if he leaves, we'll be in trouble.

Having lived both in Germany propper and Amsterdam I have to say it's like Flemish to me. But so is whatever passes as a language in and west of Cologne, so we might be on to something.

Hey, if anyone sees when the new Ajax away jersey becomes available from a retailer other than the Ajax online shop, would you throw up a post about it? I want to get it but it's $115 USD with shipping from the Ajax shop!

he was good the past few months was he? i hope someone convinces him to stay but not for the 3 extra seasons that he demands.

we will have bodul and cvitanich (albeit later in december) back next season and perhaps the very talented castillion comes through from our reserves to be added with zegelaar, suk and suarez.

with manucharyan also back from loan, that's a lot of talent attacking wise next season, hopefully one of them can replace pantelic.

if anyone can it's probably cvitanich.

we know cvitanich was send out on loan because jol promised pantelic to be his 1st striker, although cvitanich was doing great imo when needed.

he has just won the concacaf champions league with his team and will probably be back in amsterdam full of confidence.

Yeah I know. Limburg (except Maastricht) was even part of the German federation in 1930 to 1961.

Is it wrong to assume that there's a good chance Vertonghen will move on this Summer?
