In case you have not heard. The HDC will open soon with the LA Galaxy facing off against the Colorado Rapids in LA. Here is some info on the new field:

The 27,000-seat state-of-the-art soccer stadium is the home of the MLS Cup Champion Los Angeles Galaxy. In addition, the facility will be the training headquarters for the U.S. Soccer Federation’s National Teams. Other exciting soccer events in the stadium will include the MLS All-Star Game on August 2 and the MLS Cup game on November 23.

The stadium will host other major soccer matches as well as six major concert tours per year. In addition to the main soccer stadium, The Home Depot Center also offers six soccer practice fields in the facility.
    Soccer Stadium – 27,000 capacity
6 Soccer Training Fields (including one artificial surface)
Luxury Suites – 42 plus 6 event suites
    Club Seats – 1,500

You guys are are lucky. Bastards.

Except for the fact that we can't tailgate, I'd say we have it pretty good.

I will most likely appear as a "retard" but why can't you tailgate?

Tailgating rocks! Fond memories of tailgating down in Happy Valley to see the Nittany Lions. Tried it outside Giants Stadium, it ain't bad but not as good. I'd like to see stadiums have special areas outside the stadium for Pre/post game festivities. Some Pavilions and picnic tables and some grills.

How much did it cost to build the stadium?

I believe the stadium itself cost $80 million and the rest of the complex cost $60 million.

There are plans to build a hotel in the next couple of years.

I asked one of the staff this very question while viewing the stadium (which btw is awesome) and he stated that Sigi wanted a wide field so it will be 115x78.

    I hope he is right!

I read somewhere that the NFL was spending some pretty large bucks on a study of the possibility of building a stadium in Carson for an NFL Expansion team for the L.A. Market. NFL is taking a page out of our book, makes me think finally we are doing something right.
