Our home stands are only 2 games this year, plus we are on the road for the first month with 1 home game. Dom said hopefully the Superliga is our home stand and i have to agree. If the Dom isnt happy neither am i thoughts?
Re: MLS screwing us? I think it has more to do with the U of H than MLS. I'm wondering if they had blocked out use of campus more than before. I know that the MLS schedule is a nightmare with so many teams sharing venues with other organizations and events. Although if you look at it, by the end of May we'll have had 4 home games and 6 away. That's not so bad. March/April - A,H,A,A,A May - H,H,A,A,H Then by the end of June we'll have 7 home and 8 away June - A,H,H,A,H July pushes us back to 7 home and 9 away July - A I'd think of that as the halfway point of the season. The three game road trip in April is the thing that really stands out but we would be just one game away from an even schedule. The second half of the season we'll have 8 at home and only 6 away. You are correct that we never have more than two in a row at home but the first part of August we have three home games and the one trip to Frisco stuck in there. That's practically a four game home stand. And remember that in 2007 we had 4 out of our last 5 on the road. This year doesn't look so bad to me compared to that. I don't think MLS has anything against us in particular. I'll have to look at other team's schedules.
Re: MLS screwing us? MLS has been screwing Dynamo since Bill screwed Monica. Ironically, both finished with happy endings...
Re: MLS screwing us? OK, I looked at all the schedules. Teams with road tips of no more than two games: 5 Teams with one three game road trip: 5 Teams with more or longer road trips: 4 Kansas City has a six game road trip, the Galaxy and San Jose have a four game road trip, and Chivas has two three game road trips although one of those includes a game at the Galaxy so they should really also be in the middle category. So I'd say the Dynamo are fairly typical being in the middle category. Teams with home stands of no more than two games: 5 Teams with a three game home stand: 3 Teams with more than one or a longer home stands: 6 The teams without at least one three game home stand are Houston, Chicago, Columbus, New England, and Real Salt Lake. Is the league out to get all those teams? The teams with one three game home stand are Colorado, DC, and New York. The teams with four game home stands are Chivas, the Galaxy, and TFC. The teams that have multiples are FCD, KC, and San Jose. I don't really see any pattern there. The Dynamo can complain about April but I don't think their overall schedule is that out of whack.
Re: MLS screwing us? April is a good time not to play at home, there's a lot going on around here. I'm out of the MS150 this year since I waited one freakin day too long to register and missed it but I know there are lots of Dynamo people that are involved. And the state high school soccer championships are the weekend of the 12th; between the MS150 and the Dynamo I haven't been able to go for a couple of years and that's always fun. Plus we have lots of school trips durning April that I have to drive a bus to, which means more $$$ for games later on. (probably not too many people would use a when talking about a school bus driver, but whatever). And we shouldn't be wasting our homefield advantage in April when everybody wants to play here; bring them into our house during the heat of August, hehehehe.
Re: MLS screwing us? another note to keep in mind are stadium availability like UH football team plays in september and october. We do get a month off in July for Superliga. i think our schedule is pretty good tough beginning and with concacaf games in the fall will have more weekday games. (3 home and 3 away) ( and you can't forget US open games) so will be real busy this season. especially in the fall
Re: MLS screwing us? I think MLS could have done a better job in maybe giving us a 3 game or 2 week stretch at home to minimize travel, considering how stretched the team will be this year with all of the competitions. Expect the UH issue to raise its ugly head either during the CCC or the CONCACAF Champions League tourney - those games are midweek during September and October and unless we play at 9:00 or later, we may have to play elsewhere for the group stage.
Re: MLS screwing us? I think it's pretty obvious that UofH is the one of the main reasons we're looking (for the second season in a row) at having more games at home in the middle of the season when it's hot as hell and fewer games at the front and back ends of the season when we're more likely to have tolerable weather. Can't wait until we get our own place to call home.
I don't see why a weekend match at UH during the spring would be a problem. With football I can understand the fall. You can't really schedule week night matches at home with night classes going on. 2 weeks ago I went to the UH vs Memphis basketball game on a Wednesday night and parking was a nightmare. The lots at Robertson were mostly full from students and the basketball game only had 8100 people. Imagine trying to get parking for a Dynamo match with double or triple that number. Crazy. I believe all of our Thursday night matches are during the summer and parking won't be as big an issue. The CCC home leg is during UH's spring break so we should have it at the Rob.
1. The U of H blocks out weekends in the Spring for events other than football games. They want use of the parking lots not so much the stadium itself. 2. There are very few mid-week matches this year for anyone. There are only six Wednesday matches in the entire league this year mostly being played by SuperLiga teams to open space in July. The Thursday night matches are the same as last year and, yes, both of the Dynamo home ones are in June. 3. The CCC match with CSD Municipal is already set for Robertson. Any later games in the tournament are going to be a problem.
Re: MLS screwing us? Thanks for the kind words. Enjoy what you got, they are the best. One bit of advice... do not trust AEG. Good luck this year.
