http://www.dcunited.com/ Take a look at the wee survey on the right hand side. Petke can not possibly have 1/2 the vote to wear the captains arm band. I suspect foul play. To be fair it's foul play of the type that we usually get up to. So get stuffin' you mugs.
Revenge will be sweet. I wish there were a place that we could vote Pope as Metrostar player of the year last year.

how does Earnie have most of the votes. sure, hes the best on the team argueably, but this is his first season. You dont want a guy who hasn't played with alot of the payers for less than 3 months. Marco I think is the best answer. Just cause hes worn out doesnt mean he's not a leader. Maybe split the job between them would work.
No way a new player on the team should be captain, from this list, it's got to be Olsen or Marco. James
It really doesn't matter if Earnie is new, he's still a well known player and widely respected. If the other players on the team all think should be captain, and Marco feels with the new team dynamics he can't be captain than so be it. Age shouldn't play a factor either, i think we can all agree that we have met some mature 18 year olds and some immature 50 year olds. It's all about who can rally the troopsd when they'e down, or act as the spokesman for the team on the field. Right now that is Marco and he should be catain till he feels other wise.
This often happens in hockey, when a proven verteran moves teams (i..e Borque to Colorado). As an acknowledgement by the organization of what that player has accomplished already in his career. It's ussually a case where the idea of having "that guy" playing and not the captain would just seem wierd. Earnie fits into this category in my book. Hristo would too if he were playing 90 minutes a game.
I would agree on Hristo, and possibly Stewart, definately not Petke, who's done nothing in his career worthy enough for that. But, in hockey, arent there more than 1 captain, or at least the "A" on the shirt. In soccer, only 1 man wears the band, until he subs or gets sent off. James
Indeed there's a guy with C and one with A. I was refering only to the main C guy. If I had to pick an Assistant captain maybe I'd go with Olsen.
Etcheverry 24% Stewart 34% Petke 34% Olsen 5% Stoichkov 3% and in hockey there are two that wear the 'A'
