I want to remind everyone that tomorrow is a holy day of obligation, as the savior is capped. I also want to know what kind of expectations people actually have for the kid in this round of qualifying.

I'm afraid he'll get kicked a lot. Health permitting, he'll start three games. That's pretty significant in itself.

    Watch Gonzalez though, seriously.

I'm looking for a goal and an assist tomorrow.
I'd just love to see the US get to the finals.
Not something we can count on 'til it happens.
I hope he can sleep well tonight.
Brazilian papers don't want to put any pressure on Freddy so they have only asked "Is this the next Pele?"

The US will win 5-0 but without Adu. Freddy will instead be singlehandedly conquering Jamaica.

The 1st goal will be scored while walking on water.
The 2nd goal will be scored while floating in air.
The 3rd goal will be scored from the bench using a Jedi mind trick.

I somewhat wish I could sit in front of my computer to watch the matchtracker, but I've got damn Art History that I can't miss tomorrow. Why did I skip those other days? Somebody post game updates or summary on here after the game

    Midwest, the real one.
I see how it is. You expect us to go to class for you and take notes, just so you can copy them later. Eventually a real game is gonna be on TV and you will be completely lost. You'll flip it on 10 minutes late, and frantically whisper to everyone else that you didn't know there was going to be a game today. The only way to get back on top of things is to watch a makeup game and do some extra credit posts in the Oceania forum.

PRIEST: Ora pronobis. Soter Americanae pedis pilae venit. Eius nomen est Freddy.

FLOCK: Beatus est unus cum magicis pedibus.

PRIEST: Eius ars in pedis pila nullis superatus. Laudate Dominum.

    FLOCK: Amen.

[Please don't trash my grammar, it's probably pretty good considering the 13 years of rust.] :)

The thing is that Ash Wednesday is NOT a Holy Day of Obligation in any other year except this one!! :D

    Go Freddie!!!!

Why do we believe Freddy will start? Has anyone actually said that?

Nice piece on Memo in Siglo XXI ... he says the US team's strengths are its defense and teamwork, and he talks about the pressure resulting from the fact that every previous U-17 team has qualified. The article also mentions that he originally dreamed of playing for Mexico.

We gotta think of something better than Holy Day of Obligation -- how about Adupendence Day? Ok, maybe not.

Actually DK, I kind of like that one. It sure beats version 500 of "Much Adu about...."

BTW ElRoss - Freddy Adu's first international match way well be viewed someday as "Art History" , so I think you're covered. If Rembrandt was giving a painting demonstration during class, would the prof let you go to it?

I've never watched MatchTracker actually. I can remember being ON IRC six, seven years ago, "watching" Rangers matches to see someone type something like:

    Laudrup

    Gazza

    McCall

    beaten

    Motherwell now

    (5 minutes pause)

    McLaren

    throw-in Gers

    (2 minute pause)
    comms babbling now

    (fans singing Billy Boys)
    (2 minute pause)
    Motherwell FK

you get the idea. Somehow it was spellbinding. Hopefully matchtracker is a bit more like what the BBC does now with text commentary.

Matchtracker is not bad in my experience. Test updates every minute and even more than that when things are happening. I have never timed out getting there and have been on dial up until now. This will be my first game on cable modem.

Has anyone ever gotten USSF matchtracker to work on a Mac? It fails to load about 95% of the time when I've tried it, and when it fails it crashes the whole computer.

    Completely worthless IMHO.

Somebody may want to check out the Jamaican radio stations around game time to see if they're doing the game. I surfed around on the Jamaican soccer federation's site earlier and there was no mention of it (and barely a mention of the U-17s), so I'm not hopeful, but stranger things have happened...

Good point - unfortunately reggaeboyz.com is also linking US matchtracker. I wonder if there are any Guatemalan radio stations on line?

I don't know about goals, but I sure as heck expect him to feed the crowd during halftime with only two fish and some loaves of bread.

I woke up this morning thinking to myself "This could be the first day of a new era in US Soccer". Just like the repercussions that followed the Caliguiri goal vs. T & T, the capping of Fredua (ver. 1) could be the start of the US finally reaching the upper echelon of world soccer.

I then thought to my self "How am I going to remember the day?". For some reason, the date March 5 had some significant meaning. Was there some historical significance? A few minutes later I remembered, today is my wedding anniversary.

Thanks Freddy, for saving my life, your magic works in many mysterious ways.

I like that! I'll always remember this as Adupendence Day and will find some way to celebrate it annually. Hmm..I'll eat Freddy Flakes for breakfast and set off Freddy Fireworks. Oh, they're illegal here. Darn. Those brushfires we get ruined that.

I'll bring a cup of water while I follow matchtracker. By the end of the game i hope to be drinking wine instead... Then again, why wait so long when one can start drinking much earlier?
Plus, i know HE has more important things in mind
