There are alot of rumors going run on Fox News Sports, SBS, The World Game, Green and Gold, and a few other media are calling for Holger to be sacked following the embarrassing loss to Brazil with a full strength squad. Apparently, a few candidates have been named and the growing frustration with the German coach, who according to some is not investing or training youth and not experimenting.

FFA are apparently not going to risk another embarrassing show at the world cup, and the road to the 2015 Asian Cup

    Guus Hiddnik is available?

THE CANDIDATES TO BECOME THE NEXT SOCCEROOS COACH
    Ange Postecoglou

Four years since he returned to the A-League, Postecoglou is the darling of the cognoscenti for the football his teams play. Invested his own time and money in educating himself after he was sacked as Australian youth coach.

Pros: Has experience of the national set-up, and deals comfortably with high-profile and high-pressure positions.

Cons: Sceptics say the time he takes tio build a side wouldn’t be avaialble to him as national coach.

    Tony Popovic

The incredible job the former Socceroo did last season at Western Sydney has provoked inevitable – if unlikely – calls for him to join the reckoning on a national stage. “Popa” is known to have supporters at a senior level within FFA.

Pros: Tactically astute, and turned a job lot of players into a well-drilled unit. Also has huge force of personality.

Cons: It’s surely too early for a man in only his second year as a head coach. He will coach the Socceroos – one day.
    Guus Hiddink

The popular choice for sure, as the man who guided the Socceroos onto the world stage in 2006 and helped them leave such a fantastic impression in Germany. Left his Russian club in July, and was heavily linked with the Barcelona job.

Pros: One of the most experienced figures in world football, with a CV like few others.

Cons: Hiddink never goes back – and likes to take jobs with little or no expectation.

    Marcelo Bielsa

Target of a giant man-crush from SBS’s pundits, who would implode with joy if he took on the Socceroos job. Having left Athletic Bilbao in June, he is also available – but whether he would commit to ]at least 16 months, to take in the Asian Cup, is hugely doubtful.

Pros: Fantastic track record with clubs and countries, knows what coaching at a World Cup is all about.

Cons: Speaks little English, likely to have better offers.

    Frank Rijkaard

The former Barcelona and Dutch national coach was sounded out about succeeding Pim Verbeek in early 2010 and showed genuine interest. Having won the European Cup and La Liga with Barca, he is reportedly currently an adviser to a school in Florida.

Pros: Played and coached at World Cups, and brought through many of the current Barcelona stars.

Cons: FFA might be wary of going Dutch again, and there are question marks over his tactical detail.

Action must be taken, HOPEFULLY SOON! Remember Australia sacking Frank Farina in 2005, and hiring Guus Hiddnik is what led the Socceroos the to glorious 2006 world cup.

Didn't Guus say he wanted to come back to Australia? Either him or Rijkard, but action must be taken NOW while we still have time and options!
