As a result, Miami and Virginia Tech will be the only major conference teams that will switch conferences in 2004-05. Those two schools met a June 30, 2003, deadline to leave the Big East and join the ACC, with Boston College invited after the deadline. Tranghese said the Eagles will play in the Big East in all sports for the 2004-05 season before leaving for the ACC in 2005-06.

I was hoping to see BC in the ACC this fall. Kinda wanted to see Guy Melamed up close and in person a couple times.

With just the Hokies joining the ACC next year, I guess that means the regular season champion won't get a bye in the first round as there will be eight soccer playing teams in the conference next year.

Still curious to see what the ACC does with the tourney when they have nine teams. Personally, I'd like to see a play-in between 8-9 but I could also see No. 9 being odd man and not getting into the tourney at all.

When they get to 9 teams, I think the ACC will be inclined to go to the 8-9 Play-in format (like basketball). I've got no problem with this unless it tempts them, which I think is likely, to give up the improvement made this year of the day off between the quarters and semis.
