We all knew Hoddle's problems tactically and in terms of man management and that things didn't work out. Glenn wants another job, and having Pleat's criticism hanging around in the air unanswered would make that a lot more difficult. Saying that it's pretty clear they were two personalities who just don't get on, and have never got on even when they were player and manager, let alone manager and director. So I don't think Glenn is right in saying that having Pleat as director of football would be difficult for a new manager. Time for this whole sorry episode to be brushed under the carpet.
