the history section on kcwizards.com is abysmal. i went to write something on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kansas_City_Wizards but then came to the sudden realization that i know nothing. some quick questions: who was gansler's predess- who was coach before gansler? and before him back to 96. when did they change? same question, but johnson for gansler and pres for coach. anyone have the verbatim on gansler's "mexican refs, mexican champions us champions, in mexico" quote? can i steal a blurb on the mystics from somewhere? anything else? thanks.
also what do you guys think are memorable moments in wizards history, eg preki and henderson going to miami, diego punching nick in the face, etc.
Ron Newman coached into the 1999 season when he was let go. Ken Fogarty filled in for three matches (all losses) until Bob Gansler was hired. Curt Johnson is not "pres". He is the General Manager. His predecessor was Doug Newman (not related to Ron and Guy Newman). The team's first GM was Tim Latta.
Re: Re: history questions i forget, we got corporations insteada clubs. i dont mean that disparagingly. i really forget. Forgatty counts, even if only as an interim or caretaker. anyone just magically happen to know the dates (and maybe opponents) on those games, and the dates on the GM's tenures, or am i taking a trip to the toshokan.
I would recommend that you contact the Kansas City Wizards and request a "Media Guide". It should be able to answer many of your questions. As to the coaching, I merely typed "ken fogarty wizards" into google, http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=ken+fogarty+wizards and the first two links answered your questions: Ron Newman steps down in Kansas City and Bob Gansler appointed head coach in K.C.
