After several tough years financially, it appears that things are finally beginning to look up positively. Results from 2015/16 are pointing towards a profit range around 5 Mio on the plus side overall. Major reason for this improved situation include higher transfer gains, final placement in the standings at seasons end, and TV/prize money from the Pokal.

We're about to experience one of our most profitable summer transfer windows in a while. From the sales of Vestergaard, Ujah, and the bonuses of RB Leipzig's promotion from Selke's sale last year, we gained about 26 Mio already. Other possible deals still pending are Caldirola, and Galvez as both have been mentioned in ongoing discussions. Which will bring the amount to somewhere in the mid-30 Mio mark if those happen. The increase in funds will allow us to pursue additional reinforcements towards building for next season.

With the new TV contract in place, Werder will be collection 10-12 Mio more annually on income. From this amount, 5 Mio will be from the new distribution principle.

Media reports that Werder have reached an agreement with Umbro to be the new equipment supplier for the club beginning in the 2018/19 season. The current contract with Nike will not be extended. This new deal until 2023 us worth 17.5 Mio. Which is 3.5 Mio annually, and 500k more than Nike's per year. The contract with main sponsor Wiesenhof reportedly will also not be extended.

    Werder sign Chinese partner

Yingsheng Sports Culture Development joins as top sponsor of Bundesliga club.

Yingsheng Sports Culture Development, a China-based sport marketing company, has become the latest top sponsor of German soccer outfit Werder Bremen.

Yingsheng, which also operates soccer academies across China, has signed a two-year contract with the Bundesliga club. It will recieve TV-visible advertising space inside Werder's Weser-Stadion and receive a hospitality package for home matches.

Additionally, Werder will collaborate with Yingsheng on the development of its grassroots academies, with coaches and players traveling to Germany to work with the club's staff. Likewise, Werder will send its own employees to China to work at the academies.

Sponsors.de reports that the sponsorship and hospitality element of the deal is worth up to US$1.1 million per season to Werder.

Yingsheng is part of the consortium which took over English Premier League side West Bromwich Albion in 2016. Earlier this month, Chinese striker Zhang Yuning joined Werder Bremen on loan from West Brom for the duration of the 2017/18 season.
