Can anyone suggest a media player that can play these .avis?

 

Windows Media Player should do the trick. If its not working for you, you probably have to make sure you have the neccasary codecs downloaded. You should ask the poster of the clips which codecs he used, or you can look around the net for a program that can tell you what codecs are needed to play your files. There should be more than one of this type of program, but the one I have is called G-spot and works great.

So I've downloadeed a clip, but only getting audio. are they only audio clips?

No; you are probaby missing the video codec.

There is another option for those having trouble with the clips. Download VLC Media Player from the link below. It plays virtually any format, no need to download any codec separetely.
