What are the existing WoSo club records in CAF? I just noticed in the CAF CL thread that the final apparently got 20k
2019 in Nigeria and Cameroon seen some club matches with 5-6k in attendance, dunno if that were records though.

If you also look at how many matches from 2022 there are in this chart, it's quite clear that, in the last pair of years, club's women's football entered a new era. When this thread was started, nothing alike could have been foretold.
Definitely a lot from the past two years, but I'd wager that if COVID hadn't happened, we could easily say the wave started 6yrs ago - there's a very respectable number of games from 2018+2019 on the list too! Then that 2020-2021 gap hit. Heck, before 2018, Freedom-CyberRays was #6 on the list, having only dropped two spots from when it entered in 2001.
I can agree, considering that, if I count well, there are only 2 games in the first 50 that happened before 2018, and no more than another dozen in the 51-100 section of the chart. It's a fact, though, that, even if the growth started aroud 2018-2019, the last two years have upgraded it to a completely different level: if you just consider the current top 20, a whopping 14 of them are from 2022 or 2023.
Great work, @Lechus7. Do you (or anyone else) want collaborative ownership of my original google spreadsheet? Happy to share the work as 2023 was a pretty difficult time for me to keep up with this. But I certainly don't want it to go to waste. I've updated everything now but Lechus has all the info in their post so no need for a double.

It is actually not the real attendance, it is the number of tickets sold. There were empty seats, probably more like 58k

https://www.uefa.com/returntoplay/n...1000--the-business-case-for-women-s-football/ In this report the future growth of women football in Europe is outlined. How does this compare with the USA? Any data/forecasts available?
I'm not sure whether there is a good report over here. Players get higher salaries at the top European clubs which is why you still see US players coming over to play there. TV ratings for the women's league over here are not very high (nor is the men's league either). Unfortunately the women's game in Europe is becoming just like the men's with some very rich clubs and everyone else being feeder clubs. In Holland, clubs cannot have more than four women under contract as per the KNVB regulations, something that Spitse has been fighting. Without long term contracts, players can leave at will and it makes it difficult to compete at a high level.
I dunno if it was a requirement by the KNVB to have "at least" 4 players under contract or "under contract players is limited to 4". The latter one to me is a violation of the EU laws of freedom of contract and as such is void, so I assume it's the first one. The all female club Hera intends to be full pro, so that too points to the first option.
