Being bored this morning, I decided to hope on the TL and search for players. I got to thinking a high set piece player would be a good thing. Set the set piece level to excellent or better and to age 20 or less. If i'm going to pick up one of these players, i at least want him to be trainable. There are a quite a few players who are young with good set piece skill. I found a 20 year old with mythical set pieces and passable PM. What a deal.

Anyone have experience with high set piece players in a game?

The highest i have got is solid but i did hear some story about a player who had no skills apart from stamina and divine set pieces. This divine set-piecer won them their countries national cup by scoring a free kick against one of the best defences in their country or something

Yeah, I'm in the market for something similar. Waiting on the sale of my players first.

I don't have any direct experience, but I've seen lytic complain about players on his wife's team (Becky's Babes, a notable SP trainer) failing to score penalties. :p

e.g. check out where she went out of the cup on penalties last season.

I have an excellent set piece taker I am training PM, and while he is great at scoring set piece goals he sucks as a penalty taker.

He missed in my pk shoot out debacle that saw me dumped out of the cup. Experience is more valuable for pks.

I judge my penalty takers by looking at set pieces for their primary and then scoring for secondary. It would make sense that this would be the way the engine would factor it. I know experience factors into this, but in Series VI, I don't think it makes much of a difference.

I think experience plays a major role in it as well. but i'm not really too worried about PKs as I am a cheap long distance goal in the run of play.

I believe it's a mix of SP, exp, and a little scoring for PK's. My set piece taker is a solid SP, with excellent scoring, and just popped to inad exp. Unfortunatly, he has yet to score a single goal this season, unlike last when he led the series:(

I personally am not really looking for a SP guy at the moment, I more looking at getting me another defender to play wingback when I try to fase out my older defenders.

actually, i think experience only counts in penalty shoot outs in cup rules games.

I think a Penalty kick in normal time is just another sp event.

That makes sense I think. I don't know. I'll let you know how my guy does in high pressure situations.

I bet it counts in PKs during the game. Just like experience is a modifier to your team's quadrant (septant?) team ratings. But exactly how much?
