Sorry PSV might become champion in Netherlands this weekend and after being asked for german teams like Leverkusen and Schalke04, he answered he only would think in coach Barça, however due to the importance of the match vs Feyenoord he said he wont talk anymore until the season is over, the only problem would be the indemnization to give to PSV since he has a clause about it in his contract and is reported as 'high', Hiddink coached in Spain Madrid (98-99), Valencia (91-94) and Betis (99-00)
Guus in BCN??? Mario- Very unlikely that Guus will be the manager here next season. First of all, the elections have to take place and then we shall see. Most candidates have deals with players and managers before the elections and use them late in the campaign process. last year Capello was suppose to be a manager but Gaspart and Fabio could not come to an agreement, also Fabio did not like that Gaspart was negociating with him while Van Gaal was still on the bench. The wild card in all this is Ronald Koeman, the cules would go ape....if Koeman were to return, we shall see.
BTW Hiddink lost today: PSV's Lead Cut To Three Points By Inspired Van Hooijdonk A Pierre van Hooijdonk hat-trick inspired Feyenoord to a 3-1 win at home to PSV Eindhoven to keep the race for the Eredivisie title alive. PSV's second loss of the season has seen Ajax move to within three points of them, while Feyenoord are a further point behind going into the final two matches of the season. Ajax boosted their goal difference by thrashing De Graafschap 7-1 this afternoon, although PSV still have the upperhand in that department. While Feyenoord's excellent win did Ajax a huge favour, it also keeps the pressure on them as Holland's top three sides do battle for two champions league places. Van Hooijdonk opened the scoring after 23 minutes from the penalty spot after Bonaventure Kalou was brought down by Andre Ooijer. Kalou was again the inspiration as he set up van Hooijdonk for Feyenoord's second just before half time. Mateja Kezman pulled a goal back to take his tally to 34 for the season, but Van Hooijdonk was to take the match ball with a second penalty to take his own tally to 28 for the season. De Graafschap, who are bottom of the table and now certain to finish in the bottom three, opened the scoring away to Ajax after just three minutes. However, there was to be no shock as Rafael van der Vaart equalised on 13 minutes and gave Ajax the lead just after half time. It triggered an avalanche of goals as Wesley Sneijder, Tomas Galasek, Steven Pienaar, Maxwell Scherrer and Nourdin Boukhari all netted.
According to a Korean sports newspaper, Hiddink and Kezman might be a package deal for Barca. For those of you who can read Korean, here's the link. http://sports.chosun.com/news/news.htm?name=/news/sports/200305/20030521/35u07004.htm Just few excerpts from the artcle is that one of the candidate for the Barca presidency is claiming that if he were to win the election then he would bring Hiddink and Kezman to Barcelona. So far, Hiddink is stating that he plans to honor PSV's contract which runs till next year. Interesting article and I would love to see Hiddink take Barca back to the promised land.
Mario, thanks for the translation. Even if Hiddink could be coach by next season, like Juanele said, his track record speaks volumes. I love Hiddink for what he did with the Korean national team and would love even more so for him to coach Barça. But Antic got the team to start playing again and I don't think anyone can dismiss that. Players seem to like Antic and the team has done pretty well under him so why mess with a formula that works?
Alex, I think this is all about the presidential candidates and what not (although I agree Guus has a shit of a record in Spain) everybody wants to attract votes and offer to sign top players and coaches to promote themselves. BTW you've got mail
True. But there's also a pretty big chance that Ajax will want him to sign for another one or two years since the players are very fond of him. And so far he's done incredibly well.
Definitely a possibility, but as his agent, I would recommend he wait and see what is out there next year I have a feeling the lure of returning to FCB will be too strong for the mr CowMan.
Maybe. I think it also depends on what happens at Ajax. If Ajax succeeds in keeping this team together for another two years... why go to Barce when you can win prizes in A'dam? The future will tell I guess... But Koeman will eventually end up at Barca. That's for sure.
