Looks like Landon had more on his mind than the missus at the Cup. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/soccer/world-cup-2010/06/26/donovan.tabloid/index.html
guess we graduated to the big time now - celebrity child ..... they were going to hold this story till the US lost?
Well, I was wondering why he didn't look like his normal aggressive self... I guess he's trying to keep that shit in check.
Yeah, same here. I know it's hard to resist turning this thread into a stream of clever/funny post oneupmanship, but I think it's worth considering how this thing could have affected Donovan's mind state, and thus his play.
I'd also be willing to bet that Landon's camp handed this one to Wahl, for the purposes of f'ing over the British paper that was set to have the scoop, and to help preemptively defuse the "scandal" to whatever extent they can.
It probably won't blow up anyway seeing that we are out. Now if we would've advanced, then it would've been much, much bigger story.
And to think there were people claiming that he didn't score enough while over there? I know, that was poor.
I'm a huge believer in public figures' lives being fair game because they chose to become public figures and take all the benefits that come with that so they have to be willing to live with the tradeoffs like less privacy. But I have to question the actual news, here. Is SI going to start reporting every time an athlete gets a woman pregnant out of wedlock? Because if they do, that's gonna take up a lot of their reporting space. By all accounts Landon didn't cheat on his wife since they'd been separated for awhile. My interpretation of this, based on Grant's story, is that Landon learned of the pregnancy only recently. So it's not like he's been shirking his responsibilities as a father. I just don't see what about getting a chick pregnant is newsworthy here. Unless Landon comes out and says his game was distracted because of all this, I just think it's another athlete knocking up some post-game ass. Big deal.
That's why Landon wanted to stay at Everton.. who needs California girls when there's Liverpool ones?
