The FEF did us Andalucians a favor, scheduling the Sevilla-Malaga derby for the last week of the season. Looks like the game will be meaningful, especially given the way each team finished last season, with a chance to fight for a UEFA spot, and Sevilla getting it (ARGH!!!). Although Malaga lost out the week before with a tie at Real Sociedad. Anyhow, that was a treat to see on the schedule.
You must have meant last UEFA slot, by then Betis will have already secured a slot in the CL and will be the envy of the Sevillistas! The best favor was the scheduling of the derby sevillano on 19 December at the pocilga where Betis will be able to get an early Christmas present after they provide Sevilla with a whipping they haven't seen since the last time Serra Ferrer coached and Betis beat Sevilla 0-3 on 22 December 1995! Ah the good ole days are back!! viva er beti manque lopera! Pichi
I just hope Malaga doesn't need to win the game to stay in 1st Div. An Andaluz team sending another one to 2nd I wouldn't like to see, and this is actually quite probable (I don't see Malaga reinforcing well). I don't think the FEF did us any favor. I just hope that Recreativo, Cadiz and Cordoba go up from 2nd next year.
There's still a little time before the season begins. Malaga returns most of the core of last years team, with the exception of Salva, Insua and Diego Alonso, their primary strikers and goal scorers. The key for them will be to find or sign another goal scorer before the end of the transfer window so that the team will have a legitimate scoring threat. Most of the midfield and defense return intact. People had tremendous doubts about Malaga last year, even more than this year, including myself. I am much more confident in this year's squad, but I am hoping for another signing or two to take the pressure off of the squad. Like every year, Malaga will continue to surprise and most likely remain in Primera.
