Why is May 16 2004 a big day in Portuguese Soccer. That is the last itme that Portugal beat Italy in a compeitive Game in any age group Under 16 when 15 year old Cristiano Ronaldo scored and Portugal won 2-1. Our National team has not beaten the Azzurri in over 30 years. So what gives i guess Italy is Portugal"s Daddy. Thanks Pedro Martinez. Hey by the way for all the people who live in the New England area congradulations on the Red Sox winning the World Series.

I have to agree with you, I'm tired of the 1-0 lost's and the 1-1 results

Is this really necessary? Come on now......Portugal has no Daddy! And answer this What is the last major tournament that Italy has won? Same thing with Germany and so On. Aside from Brazil, there are no favorites or Powerhouses.

I often hear Italian Supporters claiming to have and play the best soccer, but yet the thier national team has done nothing. They can no longer live in the past, those three WC tropies, (while 3 more than Portugal have) was a long time ago.

Their last one was in 1982. Given the fact that the WC is played every 4 years, that is pretty recent.

.......and they were finalists in 94 I believe, and finalists at euro 2000,
We haven't played Italy enough times in major games to say that they own us. I think it would have to be Spain, prior to this year of course.

Seriously. There's enough Portugal thrashing going on in these forums and now we are asking each other who our daddy is? Portugal has to get rid of this inferiority complex that we have. You think the Spaniards are asking themselves this question on their forum? Of course not.

I second that. The last thing we need is someone with an inferiority complex writing crap like this in OUR forum.

While i agree this thread isn´t good for us, i have to say when i see any Italian national team playing against any of our national teams, i know the best we will get its a draw or loose 1-0, i have seen U-16, U-17, U-18, U-19, U-20, U-21 and the A team and this are the common results, they always know how to beat us, strong defence and midfield, play in counter attack, kill us with their boring game, and our players simply can´t handle that, they fall in the trap like little kids.
