Truly a master of chauvinism, that Simon Borg.

 

You almost knew it was only a matter of time before he did something to get in trouble. That being said, I think the suspension was fine. I agree that he shouldn't be working there, but not as a result of what he said. Simply, because he's not very good at his job.

 

the guy should be Fired for what he side but also he is bad at what he does. And also often his writing is not interesting.

 

i'm shocked that people are still shocked by borg.

 

But where are we supposed to get the Kick Off from without him?

Am I missing something here? I don't know this guy, but didn't he basically just say that he's not into women who are hard core sports fans? I disagree, but he is allowed to have an opinion correct?

 

He tried to project his views onto those of most of the male soccer-game goers in the US...

 

Sure he's allowed to express such an opinion amongst his personal friends, but he did so on air as a representative of the league and phrased it in a way that did not suggest that it was his personal opinion, but rather a general truth that he's "sure most fans would agree with", making it a completely different situation. He basically told women to be careful about how enthusiastically they support their team while attending events, because men might find them unattractive for it... Does that sound like the kind of message you want a league representative sending out to a demographic that they have been going after for years?

 

This guy works for the league? Ok, that was stupid.

He is from Malta.

 

But the place is like, full of the English, right? Sort of like an expat Alabama of England?

 

I think Germany is the Alabama of Europe...

 

Malta was a part of the British Empire so he may have some English blood in him.

 

Plenty of Balkan countries to choose from for that.
