Even though the crowd was small last night, the atmosphere was great. The real diehards showed up.

Thanks to the Fort for their cheers. I'm in section 110, and we hear you! The Rev-o-lu-tion chant at the end of the game was picked up across the Stadium. The crowd standing for the last three minutes and cheering was one of the highlights of the evening.

I have to agree--the Fort was rocking last night.

After our first game in the new stadium I posted a concern that the acoustics seems to smother rather than allow for the kind of crowd noise that intimidates visiting teams. Last saturday with 21500 in the seats is was more quiet than it was with 6500 last night. Franly I didn't hear much at all from the Fort in the Mutt game.

It's true, the acoustics of the new stadium are peculiar.

George didn't hear much at all from the Fort in the Mutt game, which is odd given that it was one cheer/chant/song after another. Many of us had no voice or were hoarse the next day.

The other odd thing is we couldn't hear much from the ESC during that game, and I know they made a racket.

Glad the whole stadium sounded good last night!

It really was great to hear the fort for the entire game and the rest of the crowd in bits and pieces until they (we) finally caught on in the final 3 minutes.

I'm in 108 and we actually had a guy turn around and ask some college kids to quiet down. They were yelling at Thorton. This atmosphere is part of the game and I, personally, would not have as much fun without a lively crowd.

It looked and sounded great on TV too - great stuff.

Congrats all around for taking down the Fire - feel free to do it again.

Sounded great on tv. They had some great late-game shots of the Fort as well.

Maybe the rain helped with the acoustics, a la, sort of like having a roof?

Music to my ears. :) It was great to hear everyone join in and I was thrilled that everyone (most of the crowd as far as I could tell) was standing for the end of the match. In the final minutes Wolde Harris turned around to look at sections 108 & 109 and starting clapping right along with us. It had to feel good for the players too.

The college kids in 108 that teskicks mentioned were some of the louder voices getting people going with the Rev-o-lu-tion chant at the end. They can do that anytime they want.

As far as the Metro game, I remember hearing the Fort. Maybe not constantly, but I definitely heard them. Couldn't hear the ESC much. Not sure where George sits so I can't offer an acoustics comment.

I hope last night's atmosphere is here to stay.

    Great atmosphere on Thursday. Imagine a soccer-specific stadium with 25,000 fans screaming "R E V O L U T I O N" at the top of their lungs!

Well, that ain't going to happen, since we have the Big Gouge as our playpen and that is fine. The pitch is great, the views are excellent and when a crowd, even the only 10% full of 6,000+ can make the joint rock we are definitely at home.

Full kudos to all in attendance. Let's hope we play a week from today and pack them in.

    GO REVS!

Well Thursday was the first time I've ever been in the Fort (I'm usually sitting in TicketBastard sits circa Sec. 118) and I decided I'd just go wander into the Fort for the game and there was a great atmosphere. I brought 3 of my friends with me and we stood right next to the drum and had a great time. Great atmosphere, alot of noise and an overall fantastic time...except for the Sox-Yankees bickeing throughout the game and that Japanese guy heckling me for wearing my Yokohama jersey :D . I'm still getting my teammates into it so if there's a game on Wed. expect a decent contingent (hopefully) of us Framinghamers wandering into the Fort.

    Has anybody considered the wind?

In an open stadium like the Razor, the wind can likely do tricky things with sound. In the Mutts game, there was a strong southwest wind which likely pushed a lot of the Fort sound right past the Lighthouse and over to the Rodman Ford parking lot.

On Thursday, it was raining and, if anything, there must have been a Norteasterly wind. Ergo, people in the rest of the stadium hear the hard core?

Simple meterology, boys and girls. :)

Good point about the wind. In the season finale, I thought the Metros fans were very loud, louder than the Fort, at the start of the game. (I sit in Section 110). Of course, as soon as TnT scored his penalty kick in about the 5th minute, they got quiet.

I also think that much of the sound from Section 110 and adjacent sections goes across to the empty seats on the other side and disappears. No one is on the other side to yell back, of course. When I get home, I usually watch selected portions of the game on tape, and it always sounds louder (with the cheers travelling over to the cameras) than it seemed at the stadium.
