Andi Herzog (called "The Duke") seems to like his new club. During the game against AS Istres (0:2) in Nice, Herzog made a good game but wasted the best chance in the 90.Minute. Galaxy-Coach Sigi Schmidt: "It was a difficult game right after our arrival, but we got a first impression of Andi Herzog and I think he did a good job."
Herzog came on in the second half of the Galaxy - Earthquakes pre-season match in Santa Barbara. He took at least some of the corners and placed a perfect pass from midfield to Carlos Ruiz for the game-winning goal in the 84th minute. Incidentally, that Lothar Matthäus is quite a piece of work. Two years after bringing Herzog to Rapid Wien, he now claims he never wanted the guy, even though he rated Herzog highly in an evaluation prior to the signing. He also claims his leaving Rapid had nothing to do with performance, even though the team finished eighth, its worst placing in history! Yeah, Lothar, and you were a huge success with the MetroStars, too...
