Hertha took a young 17 yr old striker Ze Eduardo on trial, but, of course, he isn't the striker salvation we need. A good striker or two is needed. A good target man (Koller would be a stretch, but very useful) would be best I think, Nando is fast enough and experienced enough now to be a fair 2nd striker.

Is it just me or do the current home blue and white kits look outstanding? The dark blue looks really sharp.

Sorry dude, but I might be going next year.

As for Joe Simunic, he was kicker's man of the match. He's big, tough, pretty good technically and unstoppable in the air.

And their home kits are really sharp, they should keep it for next year.

So, they just today put in new turf in the Olympiastation, so on the Hertha website, an exclusive interview with the new grass:

    http://www.herthabsc.de/index.php?id=10753

    19.04.2005:

herthabsc.de: Was waren denn bisher Ihre schlimmsten Erfahrungen?

I like the way you are thinking....

    Aufgehts Hertha, Hertha BSC!

Anyhoo, what does everyone think about this weekend. I mean, Schalke played a whole 120 minutes tonight before they eeked out the win, I wonder how that will affect them for Saturday....

Gonna be a toughie. I like Schalke. There loss at home to Hamburg will hopefully mean, they will come into this one, devoid of confidence. They need a win, otherwise its bye-bye title for this year.

I think a draw, I would love to see Hertha win, but I don't know - Schalke are a good side. We need some 'Glück'

Oh what the hell - 2-1 Hertha, a last minute Marcelinho strike. :)

Haha. Funny story on this topic. So in the Ubahn they have these news screens that are sponsored by BZ, the biggest rag in Berlin, but they do show headlines to read and not their normal tabloid crap, well, not as much. So, they have a sports segment, and Im on the U6 two days ago to meet some people to go to watch the Schalke-Bremen game, and this headline comes up that Bobic might leave, and several people, a majoirty if you will, and mind you this is just a normal train, not going to a football game or anything, started cheering outloud at the prospect of him leaving.

He really isnt liked here in the city, when ever he gets subbed into a game, the crowd doent really cheer, and he doesnt play, I think you are right, he really does need to just go.

No you are right, these new kits are a lot better than last year, the darker blue is really a nice touch. If only there were not 70e....oh well, I guess they are getting rid of their white away ones at the end of the season, I mean, I dont think Ive seen them in them at all, and you can find them at any Intersport and Karstadt for like 15e now, so I picked one up before the only sizes they have left were S and XXL :p.

Im going to take some pictures from the crowd this weekend, Ill send you guys a link when I post them up on my site.

Thanks Subpop77...can you give me the link to your site, that would be greatly appreciated.

Question: Is 70 euros a common price throughout the Bundesliga to buy the current jersey. To me it is quite punitive, but then again, in America, football and NBA jerseys are like $150, so maybe I'm wrong :D

I think the common price is 64,95€ which actually is quite expensive imo.

Thats alot...and the away kits are usually rubbish, I would rather pay the 60-80 euros for the home kit than 25-45 for the way.

i think many teams have a better away shirt than home shirt...most BL teams actually.

Ill agree, the away isnt so cool as the home in our case. But it was only 15 Euros for a kit, then I can spend the other 50e for 5x 10e to sit in the Ostkurve!

Ive got some pictures up from a game earlier this season on my photos site, dont mind all the other random stuff, well, if you do look at it, just let me know what you think. http://photos.yahoo.com/subpop77/

And, yes, every jersey Ive seen is either 64.95 or 69.95 (only Nike, imagine that).

I am so jealous now...I wish I was in Berlin again, I was only there for 3 days last year and I didn't get to catch them in a game (they were playing Borussia Monchengladbach on the road).

in more pertinent news, the Schalke game looks like a sellout...only the 2nd of the season. Perhaps the fans are more interested now, now that Hertha have a good chance of European fussball. AND ITS ON FSC!!!
