Re: Hertha BSC Berlin thread It was heartening to see that Hertha sold out the Olympiastadion against Bayern even with the bad weather. I think, however, Hertha still need to gain more fans. All to often, I'm disheartened by nearly half-empty stadiums As for the 2nd half of the season, I am heartened by their continuation of their winning streak. They should continue to this with Nurnberg, even with their impressive strike force.
Re: Hertha BSC Berlin thread I too am very excited about Hertha's play this season. With several prestigious BL club's experiencing difficulties, i.e; M'Gladbach, Dortmund, and to a lesser extent even Bayern, it's nice to see the Blau und Weiss von Berlin doing so well. I'm also thrilled that we have been able to see a few of Hertha's matches on the Fox Soccer Channel, with another coming Saturday against Nuremburg. I'm getting my Dish Network upgraded today, so that I'll be able to receive live German programming. Alles Vor, Hertha noch ein Tor!
Re: Hertha BSC Berlin thread Im also very satisfied with what die alte hertha played so far and im confident that this will continue. I think other clubs dont take them as serious as they definately are. But its such a pity that they suck at home.. lets see saturday
Re: Hertha BSC Berlin thread Only one gripe for the season...we're paying Wichnarek and Bobic appx. 2.5 million euros this season and they've collectively appeared 25 times for 1 goal... Biggest bargain of the world, right guys?
Re: Hertha BSC Berlin thread HERTHA HAS THE HOTS FOR NÜRNBERG! http://www.herthabsc.de/index.php?id=10200#26355 Hertha BSC Berlin is calling this match, the most important of the season....and I agree. Sports are all about momentum.
Re: Hertha BSC Berlin thread BUNDESLIGA ROUND 21 PREVIEW: HERTHA - NÜRNBERG http://www.herthabsc.de/index.php?id=10229#26407 Marcelinho: First team return! This is exactly the news that the Berliners were waiting for and they really need the Brasilian.
Re: Hertha BSC Berlin thread What exactly does Hertha BSC mean? Could one of the Hertha supporters on this thread please explain it to me? Thanks.
Re: Hertha BSC Berlin thread Hertha Berliner Sport Club Hertha BSC also has a swimming team, among other teams. Therefore, using Hertha BSC Berlin is technically wrong because that is the wrong name. That doesn't stop me thought
Re: Hertha BSC Berlin thread Talen from the Hertha website: The name Hertha comes from the fact that Fritz Linder decided to name the club after a steam boat, which he and his father had made a day trip on. On the funnel of the “Hertha” was the shipping company’s colours, white with blue stripes, which are to this day also the colours of Hertha BSC.
Re: Hertha BSC Berlin thread Looks like the Hertha vs. Nurnberg is going to be on live in Fox Soccer Channel. I will try and do some PbP.
Re: Hertha BSC Berlin thread At the end of the season they should end their contracts and bring in 2 proven goalscorers. Hey, how much do Cologne want for Podolski? As for the stadium issue, having a 70,000ish all-seater is cool. But its hard to attract fans when the team isn't doing so well.
Re: Hertha BSC Berlin thread I don't know why, but I really seem to like Hertha's kits. Not a big fan of the color blue, but the current blue kits they are wearing, look sharp to me.
Re: Hertha BSC Berlin thread They do look sharp...especially the retro ones. I really do believe they have the best kit in die Bundesliga, which is a league that traditionally have bad ones. Well guess who scores? After I blast him on the BigSoccer, good ol' Artur Wichniarek scores his first goal of the season in the 90th minute. Who would have thought Artur would score the most important goal of the most important match of the season. On the down side, where was Marcelinho, he was supposed to play, but he wasn't even on the subs bench!!? Hertha BSC Berlin 2:1 1. FC Nurnberg Niko Kovac (pen 26) Marek Mintal (79) ARTUR WICHNIAREK (90)
Re: Hertha BSC Berlin thread Bit pissed off at the goal they conceded (Mintal - yet again!) But hey its results we want, and ganu's favourite Pole, Wichniarek pops up in the last minute. Still unbeaten after the winter break......
Re: Hertha BSC Berlin thread Hertha's crest isn't that great either; just that little blue and white flag. But the jersey does look fantastic. Probably not better than FC Barcelona's sponsorless shirt, but still one of the best in Europe.
Re: Hertha BSC Berlin thread I think all the crests are nice. To be honest, i think most teams in most leagues have cool crests...
Re: Hertha BSC Berlin thread I think maybe Americans have bad opinions of crests...I don't know but it seems that way for some reason.
Re: Hertha BSC Berlin thread i like the crest. i would agree though that since we dont really have crests in the US they probably arent very well liked. i am from kansas city, and both the royals and chiefs (our baseball and american football teams) have color schemes and lettering that have lasted for decades, but no real crest like there is in european soccer. MLS doesnt really have crests either. i think that while soccer will catch on more and more in the US, certain things probably wont. we will always prefer playoffs to having our champion crowned after winning the league in european format, and we will probably never have advertising on the front of our jerseys.
Hey all- GREAT game on Saturday. Was in the Ostkurve rooting on the boys to victory. Maybe it shouldnt have been so close, but it sure was exciting. 11 games in a row unbeaten, considering where we finished last year, it sure is a great turn around. We still do need a strong striker, and Im hoping after this season after having a good finish, some of the younger kids might want to come to Hertha, and the management will shell out the bucks for someone. Esp. if we end up playing in Europe at all, we will need someone strong up front. Here is the Jubel from the Ostkurve after the game and amazing last minute goal: http://www.herthabsc.de/index.php?id=10247 (realplayer required)
We were robbed in Berlin when a perfectly ok goal by Silvio Meissner was dissallowed for no apparent reason which meant the game ended 0 - 0. Its really close between therese two sides and it is absolutely fundamental that we get back to winning ways on saturday, and that will be no easy task against Hertha(in my opinion, the most improved side of the year).
However, we are without Zecke, Friedrich and Simunic for the game...it looks like Simunic will be out for 2 weeks, which is a relief to me because they way he fell against Nurnburg, I thought at least 2 months. I think Hertha would do well with a tie; Madlung is an excellent replacement for Simunic and I don't understand why he doesn't start ahead of van Burik at times, even though van Burik is a solid defender in his own right. Looks like Schroeder will get his chance with Friedrich out due to 5 yellow card ban. Zecke will probably be replaced by Marcelinho, who looks to recover from a fever that knocked him out of the 21st round match with Nurnberg. It will be interesting to see what happens to Wichniarek now...I would start him next week because he should be on an emotional high after scoring the winning goal last week. Rafael has not been playing too well after the winter break and Bobic is still out and Salihovic is not ready for the big time...so Wichniarek's chances of starting may not be too remote after all.
when is the almighty going to be back. i guess he was left off the team becuase of financial issues? Any word yet on whether he is going to suit up against Stuttgart?
