IT WAS TRULY A DAY TO REMEMBER FANS. OUR YELLOW CLAD HEROES LOOKED DEFEATED. THEIR RESOLVE GONE. ON THE VERGE OF TOTAL COLLAPSE. BUT JUST AS THINGS LOOKED DARKEST, THE NEW LEADER, FORMER COMMANDER OF THE RESERVE FORCE, REVEALED HIS ACE. THE NEWEST HERO, LED A CHARGE DOWN THE FLANK TO TURN A CLEAR DEFEAT INTO A VICTORY. DESPITE THIS BEING ONE OF THE GREAT NIGHTS IN THE HISTORY OF OUR CREW, THERE IS NO TIME TO CELEBRATE. THIS VICTORY LEADS THEM EAST, TO THE CAPITAL, WHERE THE OLDEST FOE RESIDES. JUST LIKE OUR WATER BASED FOE OF LAST EPISODE, THEY ARE DESPERATELY TRYING TO KEEP IN CONTENTION FOR THE END OF SEASON CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT. SEASON 3 IS THE MOST EXPLOSIVE AND BEST YET. THE RATINGS ARE THROUGH THE ROOF! HOW CAN THIS SHOW KEEP OUTDOING ITSELF?! YOU MUST WATCH TO FIND OUT!!!!
So, we just had what amounts to a fairy tale result. A two-goal, comeback win, on the road, against a team we don't particularly care for, with our big signing delivering the match-winner on his debut. This gives us momentum going into a match against our OLD arch-rival, who just got jackhammered in record fashion. This is setting up for a big time opportunity for us. That's usually where MLS kicks you in the teeth and shows you you know nothing.
Idk. I got a feeling this is starting to turn around. I got a feeling we’ve turned the corner and will be a force for the last three months, pending health of course.
Someday, an internet searcher is going to find this thread looking for a subject quite different. All Hail Cucho!
I’ve got the same feeling you do. We, as Crew fans, finally have something to be excited about. But I’ve seen this movie before.
I’m not saying we are going to the cup, but I am saying we are gonna be much more entertaining and I’ll be disappointed and shocked if we aren’t hosting a home playoff game.
Agreed. Crew still have major holes (as discussed in other threads by brighter minds than mine) that a signing like Cucho will not cover up. Prior to his signing, I was very low on Crew’s prospects of making the playoffs. The coach and the team looked defeated. Now? They better make a nice run up the Eastern conference standings. Playoffs or bust.
We only need to get to 4th to host a playoff game. Currently that's Montreal with 29 points in 19 games. We're on 25 points in 18 games. If we can win our game in hand, we'd only need to outpace them by 2 points over the remainder of the season with Cucho as our reinforcement. That certainly seems possible.
I'm also curious to see what happens this week with squad rotation. With some injury issues, the fact that we'll play three matches in nine days, and the fact that next weekend's home match against Cincinnati is, believe it or not, the most important of the three, it'll be interesting to see what Porter does with the lineup Wednesday night.
Crewster point standings as of today. Looks a little different that it did a couple of weeks ago: EAST NYRB 6 Philadelphia 3 Montreal 2 Columbus 1 Cincinnati -1 NYC -1 Orlando -2 Charlotte -4 New England -5 Miami -5 Atlanta -7 Chicago -10 DC -10 Toronto -14 WEST Austin 13 Nashville 6 LAFC 6 Salt Lake 3 Dallas 1 Minnesota 0 Portland -1 LA Galaxy -3 Seattle -4 Vancouver -6 Colorado -7 San Jose -8 Kansas City -8 Houston -11
Maybe not by Wednesday. Rooney won’t coach until his Visa is sorted, of course. Unclear to me how long that will take but it won’t be Wednesday.— Pablo Iglesias Maurer (@MLSist) July 11, 2022
We have a goalscorer with a goal every 28 mins record. It'll be difficult to lose from a guaranteed 3ish goals per game. Win by 3 or more for me
Agreed. CB's do the least amount of running of the field players. With Milos out, I suspect we go with 2 CBs (Mensah & Williams). Could see Anibaba rotate in for 1 game. I diybt we go 3 in the back. If we do, Moreira at RCB is possible. Even with Arty out, we still have good CM options between Nagbe, Morris, Zawadzki, Igbekeme, and moving LZ back. 353 or not. FB/WB is light. Is Hairston gonna get healthy this year? Without him, Pedro, Moreira, Sands, and Etienne are it. Coachbot obviously prefers the FBs as WBs, but we might have to see someone spell Pedro at some point here soon. We have plenty of rested bodies up top and as wide atrackers, given Porter's 352 eith the FBs as WBs. Should be good. LB seems the biggest issue. To me, at least.
Honest answer - or theory at least: We no longer have to load up the May/June/July schedule with home games to allow for a full month of away games due to the Quarter Horse Congress. But it could also be vast conspiracy. Who really knows.
Maybe this has been talked about before but we have a pretty favorable schedule for the rest of the season. I have a prediction we finish in the top 3 of the east.
