If Abu Gharib is big, then clearly this is HUGE. Right? http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&u=/nm/20041123/wl_nm/congo_un_sex_dc
It seems like Americans are the only "parents" in the UN "family". Only an American could speak freely on these allegations. For any other citizen of the world, the UN is the top of thier career so they protect their position. For American, the UN is just a waystation to something better.
Well, we know he won't spend much time on it. Bill, don't act surprised about the allegations. After all, some of those peacekeeping troops are American... and therefore evil by nature.
Doesn't look like it http://www.monuc.org/Facts.aspx Click under the links in the Contributer's List next to Military and Civilian Police.
Nice link. Never knew it was there before. I pulled the American reference from the article witch quotes Jane Holl Lute. I understood the context was that she was in Africa. However, re-reading the article, her location is not stated, but is most likely in NYC.
I have always thought that the UN was good for two things, and two things only: Have meetings at swank resorts throughout the globe. Issue reports. Now, I have a third: Hmmm. We have a sex scandal that's been going on for years that we've essentially ignored. Let's generate new policies. That'll show everyone we mean business. If you haven't read the article linked in Bill's Good News Roundup thread, you should. Compare the real live work of USAID to anything the corrupt UN does. Where should we be sending our money.
