According to the Spanish dairy AS, Wanger has given Henry seven days of vacation to made up his mind about his future and that he is about to sign with Real Madrid. They go on to say that Mr. David Dein was this past weekend in Sevilla to make an offer for Sevilla forward Reyes and to try to work out Henry possible transfer to Madrid . Is this another rumor?. http://www.as.com/articulo.html?d_date=20040121&xref=20040121dasdai_21&type=Tes&anchor=dasftb
If this article was in English, I would have been able to read it, but since it isn't, Ill give my opinion anyway. This article is bul!sh!t. AW already gave the reason why Henry isnt playing in a few matches, he has played in every match this season (if Im not mistaken), so he needs a rest. End Of Story.
It seems to me that at least parts of what the Spanish paper said was true. http://football.guardian.co.uk/News_Story/0,1563,1132780,00.html. The article was not BS after all. I believe Henry will be playing next year with Real Madrid that it is what everybody is talking about in Spain.
The minute Real Madrid declare that they are absolutely not interested in Henry, is when you should start getting worried.
These threads are getting ridiculous. Selling Henry would be like the Chicago Bulls trading Michael Jordan in his prime. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. Henry is irreplacable and Wenger knows it.
OK, I'll bite. The Marca piece insinuates that the reason for Titi's holiday was to consider his future and David Dein's visit to Sevilla was to negociate with Madrid. The fact that there might have been some actual business to do with FC Sevilla was secundary. This secundary business, Reyes's transfer, is talked about as a possible replacement for Henry. Then, since Arsenal is having trouble financing Ashburton Grove, Titi's transfer money could be used to that end. It turns out that Dein's business in Sevilla was to sign Reyes, and the financial details were made public today. It was not a bank breaker, just a very good deal put together by Dein and Wenger, who has a Masters in economics, for those of you who don't know. I might even think Arsenal came ahead here. Financing for The Nike London Stadium has been lined up, the building contracts have been signed and construction has restarted already. The official announcement from Arsenal will be made after the January transfer window closes. Arsenal might have yet another signing on the works (van Persie) and they do not want to announce to the world that they actually have money in the bank. Arsenal does have money in the bank, but it's nice to have the papers constantly refer to the club as paupers. It doesn't matter, it's not a publicly traded company. As a company, Arsenal is very well run and the amount of transparency there is refreshing, it's not hard to find out whether they are solvent or not. So, the question is, why would Henry trade Highbury for the Bernabeu? Just because Florentino Perez wants him? If Arsenal is in the black, would it make sense to trade future earnings and sure European silverwear for $100 mil right now and a less sure future? Do the math. Since Wenger went to Highbury he built one of the best sides in Europe at a net loss of only $17 mil. Regardless of what the Spanish yellow media might say, you do the math.
... Trapper John leaving M*A*S*H, Caruso leaving NYPD Blue, Sonny leaving Cher, whatever, I think you can speculate about anything and your examples are worth whatever they are worth. We'll see what happens, but I think the point is, everytime Henry goes on vacation we now have to expect the rumors to start up again. A couple years ago it was Vieira, and he stayed. Henry's ties to the club, and the club's to Henry, seem much stronger. If your point is to say that anything can happen in football, I'll agree with you. If your point is to suggest that it is more than academically possible that Henry will end up at Madrid, I think you are just trying to wind people up. (Yes, we should not take it personally, true.) Hey, I heard that Ferguson will be managing Rangers next year -- true? It's possible, you know.
Zidane WANTED to leave... Ronaldo WANTED to leave... Beckham was forced out by an arrogant gaffer... non? and i could argue that Henry is more valuable to Arsenal than any of those others....
The analogies are way off mark. Zizou plays better with space. There is no such thing in Serie A, but in the Primera you can actually create. At Inter, however much this hurts me, there isn't enough stability or recent winning tradition to get any kind of silverwear. Ronaldo's move was a no brainer. Beckham's case, well, you know what happened there. The trust and respect between mentor and pupil was broken. SAF thought Beckham was getting too big for Manchester (true) and needed to prove that MU could win without him. Beckham felt (and was) slighted by Ferguson and the end result was an unhappy player leaving hid dream club to earn less money for himself and for MU for he was sold below market price. None of these conditions apply to Henry. He is comfortable and playing under the man who made him, who is also surrounding him with players who will bring the Big Ears to Highbury. Now, if SAF does not get his *#*#*#*#*# straightened out at Old Trafford, then it will be van Nistelrooy who will be Perez' target because his allegiance is to Ferguson, not to ManU.
So you believe this article but you're discounting Dein saying today that under no circumstances is Henry for sale? Just checking? Thanks by the way for telling us what you "believe."
I heard the reason Henry was really in NYC wasn't to see a Knicks game and take time off, but instead to talk with MLS and NY/NJ about joining the Metrostars.
No, you're all wrong! He was in town to talk with Bruce Ratner about buying the Nets and moving them to gay-Paree...
Actually, I think Jay-Z (next to whom Titi sat at the Knicks game) was involved with the purchase and possible move of the Nets to Brooklyn. I don't think it would be far-fetched to think Titi might be part of the purchasing group.
