The Mirror is stating: "New York Red Bulls are confident they will get Henry as a showpiece signing, but there is also interest from Washington's DC United." Yeah right! Henry wants to come to an 0-5 club, with a crumbling stadium and fanbase, rather than play in NYC. I love the British press.
They ment Henry Williams, new CSC guy that checks tickets at gate C. These exciting news will be reported after checking DCU's facebook fan count.
With Hull City being relegation bound, I wouldnt mind trying to snap Geovanni from them this summer, he would kick serious ass for us, as he is a gomez type player and is only 30. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geovanni_Deiberson_Maurício [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5newyLDXXw"]YouTube- Geovanni (Hull City)[/ame]
yea right - Thierry Henry is going to come to the club in this situation .... "right" - "now I want you to build me an Ark" ... "what's an Ark?" .... "is this some kind of joke?"
The king of all motivators.... $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ And not to mention living life in a calmer non-football obsessed country which is the USA/Washington DC.
The man is carved into my personal sports Mt. Rushmore, but during his last season at Arsenal he intimidated his younger teammates into making sure every ball went through him, sulked when their play didn't live up to his expectations, and struggled with injury. Given DCU's current state, I don't think adding Henry would be a positive move.
not that we are playing coherently now, but Henry's strengths are not complemented at all by DC's purported style of play. Now if you were to pair him up with Gallardo....
Thats true, we can't compete with the Euro right now..... thats why we still can get players from non-eu countries like brasil and argentina that end up going home and get paid scraps compared to what we can pay. We can even outbid mexico too if we wanted to. Becks gets paid 6.5 million yearly, no mexican side can even come close to that.
NO - He gets royalty rights to LA Galaxy jersey sales with his name and numgber on it - Its worth an extra $5M a year beyond his salary of $1.5M But otherwise, nay-sayers are right - We can't even outbid a team in Greece for Freddy - Even English Coca-Cola teams can outbid us
Nah bro, thats not what it says on the MLS players union site. http://www.mlsplayers.org/files/september_15_2009_salary_information__alphabetical.pdf Also I remember at one point we were close to flexing our $$$ Muscle for Veron for a reported 10million between 3 years, which is about 3.3 each year.
